Overview We are seeking a proactive Safeguarding Lead & HR Compliance professional to champion safety, regulatory compliance, and HR functions across our primary school sports and childcare operations. This role is vital in ensuring our wraps, holiday clubs, and sports coaching teams meet strict Ofsted standards and foster a secure, inclusive environment for all children and staff. Key Duties Safeguarding & Incident Response Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Serve as the primary contact for safeguarding concerns across all school settings, managing reports in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) frameworks. Incident Response: Lead incident protocols, ensure accurate documentation, and implement follow-up actions following any physical, behavioural, or medical incidents. External Reporting: Report matters promptly to Local Authority Designated Officers (LADO), social care, and other external agencies, keeping leadership informed of outcomes. Ofsted & Regulatory Compliance Ofsted Registration & Inspection: Manage registrations, maintain site-specific records, and ensure full compliance across all settings in preparation for Ofsted inspections. Single Central Record (SCR): Maintain an accurate, audit-ready Single Central Record of pre-employment checks across all sports coaches and childcare staff. Staff Onboarding & Vetting: Oversee safer recruitment practices, including enhanced DBS checks, barred list checks, overseas clearances, and reference verification. Training Coordination: Enroll staff in required certifications—including Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding Level 2/3, and food hygiene—and monitor completion. Policy Management & Food Safety: Maintain up-to-date policies across sites and manage food registration standards for breakfast/after-school snack provisions. Payroll & Operations Payroll Processing: Process high-volume payroll for hourly-paid coaches and childcare staff, including hour verification and payment query resolution. General Administration: Simultaneously balance multiple HR, operational, and site-level compliance tasks. Qualifications & Requirements Proven experience in HR administration, ideally within an education, childcare, or sports delivery setting. Working knowledge of Ofsted Early Years and Childcare Register requirements and KCSIE guidelines. Experience maintaining a Single Central Record (SCR) and conducting safer recruitment checks. Hands-on experience with HRIS and ATS platforms (e.g., Workday, Taleo). Strong understanding of data protection (GDPR) and confidentiality in child-centered environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with school staff, parents, and regulatory bodies. Note: While we don’t expect excellence in every single area, we do look for strong core strengths in safeguarding and regulatory HR compliance.
