Rope Access Technical Authority

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly competent Rope Access Technical Authority with a minimum of 10 years of professional rope access experience to provide technical leadership, governance, and oversight for rope access and work-at-height operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all rope access activities are technically sound, safely planned, properly supervised, and compliant with IRATA requirements, applicable UAE regulations, client requirements, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the company's senior technical authority for all rope access activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain the Rope Access Management System.
• Ensure compliance with IRATA ICOP, TACS, Bylaws, and applicable UAE requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to Rope Access Managers, Level 3 Supervisors, and technicians.
• Review and approve rope access Method Statements, Risk Assessments, JSA/JHA, Rescue Plans, and Job Planning documents.
• Review and verify complex rope access systems, rigging arrangements, anchor systems, backup systems, edge protection, and rescue arrangements.
• Establish and maintain rope access technical procedures, SOPs, and safe working practices.
• Provide technical support for complex and high-risk rope access activities.
• Review rope access incidents, near misses, equipment failures, and technical non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure appropriate emergency and rescue arrangements are established for rope access activities.
• Oversee rope access equipment selection, inspection, certification, traceability, quarantine, and replacement.
• Ensure competency requirements for rope access personnel are clearly defined and maintained.
• Support internal audits, client audits, third-party inspections, and regulatory inspections.
• Provide technical input during project planning, tendering, mobilization, and method development.
• Conduct technical reviews and periodic inspections of rope access operations.
• Maintain awareness of changes to IRATA requirements, industry best practices, and applicable UAE legislation.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority whenever unsafe or technically unacceptable conditions are identified.
• Mentor and develop the company's rope access technical team.
• Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, auditors, management, and external technical specialists.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 10 years of rope access industry experience.
• Current and valid IRATA Level 3 certification – Mandatory.
• Strong practical experience in rope access supervision and technical leadership.
• Demonstrated experience with complex rope access systems, rigging, rescue, and work-at-height operations.
• Strong knowledge of IRATA ICOP, TACS, and Bylaws.
• Strong understanding of UAE work-at-height and HSE requirements.
• Proven experience preparing and reviewing RAMS, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Rescue Plans, and technical procedures.
• Experience with rope access equipment inspection, certification, and traceability.
• Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• UAE experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in façade access, building maintenance, industrial maintenance, infrastructure, construction, or similar environments will be an advantage.
