# Research Psychologist **TreeholeHK Limited** · Wan Chai, Hong Kong Island · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: 2 дня назад* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role About TreeholeHK TreeholeHK is a Hong Kong-based mental health technology company behind MindForest (mindforest.ai), an AI-powered mental health companion app with over 1.48 million user messages. We work at the intersection of clinical psychology and artificial intelligence, developing tools that make psychological support more accessible to everyday users. Our team combines technology and clinical expertise to build AI systems grounded in evidence-based therapeutic frameworks, and to conduct the research needed to understand how these systems perform in the real world. The Role This is a research-primary position , with the possibility of limited clinical work as part of the role. While the majority of your time will be devoted to conducting the science that makes AI-assisted mental health support more effective, safer, and better understood, there may be opportunities to engage with clients in contexts that directly inform the research programme. You will join as our founding Research Psychologist , embedded within a research programme spanning clinical framework validation, AI model quality improvement, therapeutic intervention design, and prospective outcome research. We see this as a collaborative role. While a research roadmap is in place, we actively welcome the appointed candidate's expertise and perspective in shaping how the programme develops. Your clinical and research judgment will directly inform the questions we ask, the methods we use, and the direction we take. This is also a founding role in a growing team . We intend to expand the research function with additional hires in future. You will help establish the standards and protocols that future colleagues will build upon. What You Will Do Your work will span four broad areas, with specific priorities and methods developed collaboratively with you upon appointment: Clinical Quality Oversight Provide independent psychological judgment on AI-generated conversation quality, contributing to ongoing quality assurance and the development of psychological standards for AI-assisted therapeutic interactions. Framework Validation Lead the expert validation of our internal AI therapy evaluation framework (the Conversation Quality Index), coordinating with external clinical raters and refining the framework based on human clinical judgment. AI Model and Intervention Development Contribute therapeutic expertise to the improvement of our AI therapy system — including authoring reference therapeutic responses, reviewing AI-generated content, and designing structured therapeutic programmes suitable for AI-assisted delivery. Outcome Research Design and oversee prospective psychological outcome studies, including ethics applications, participant assessment, and longitudinal data analysis using standardised psychometric measures. Throughout all areas, you will contribute to peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and policy discussions on AI therapy standards. What We Are Looking For Essential Master's degree or above in Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited programme — doctoral qualifications welcome and advantageous Training in at least one evidence-based therapeutic modality : CBT, DBT, ACT, or person-centred approaches Research methods training at postgraduate level: psychometrics, reliability analysis, regression, longitudinal analysis Demonstrated ability to work independently on self-directed research projects Strong written English for scientific publication; Cantonese or Mandarin proficiency an advantage for Hong Kong user population context Highly Desirable Clinical licensure or eligibility for registration as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist in Hong Kong (or internationally equivalent) Experience with or strong understanding of clinical ethics governance and IRB/ ethics board procedures Experience with digital mental health, mHealth, or technology-assisted intervention research Familiarity with LLM-as-judge methodology , AI evaluation frameworks, or human-AI interaction research Experience authoring or reviewing therapeutic content for manualised or protocol-based interventions Experience designing or facilitating AI-empowered group therapy, psychoeducation classes, or digital wellness programmes — highly advantageous as we explore group-based applications of our platform Publication record in clinical psychology, digital health, or AI-adjacent fields Personal Fit Comfortable working at the boundary of clinical science and engineering — able to translate between both worlds Intellectually honest: willing to follow the data even when it doesn't flatter the product Collaborative with engineers, but independently confident in your clinical judgment Motivated by the question: under what conditions does AI mental health support actually help people? What We Offer Access to a production dataset of 1.48 million real therapy conversations — rare in clinical AI research Genuine research autonomy: you will shape the methodology, not just execute it A founding role with opportunity to grow into Head of Research Team as the team expands Publication support and conference travel budget Flexible working hours, including one work-from-home day per week How to Apply Please apply here: https://app.notion.com/p/356f8d776dbf8103bc30cf7e9eff429a?source=copy_link Pay: $28,000.00 - $45,000.00 per month Benefits: Additional leave Dental insurance Flexible schedule Work from home Language: Cantonese (Required) Work Location: In person
