The project includes remediation of soil containing friable and non-friable asbestos. A licensed Class A asbestos removal contractor will undertake and supervise all asbestos removal activities. The successful candidate will represent Civilscape onsite, monitor the remediation works and coordinate between Civilscape’s project team, the licensed removal contractor, environmental consultants and other project stakeholders. Key responsibilities Act as Civilscape’s onsite representative during asbestos remediation activities. Monitor the licensed contractor’s work against the approved Remediation Action Plan, DA conditions, project specifications and agreed work methodology. Coordinate day-to-day activities between the licensed removal contractor and Civilscape’s project team. Review site documentation, including the Asbestos Removal Control Plan, SWMS, SafeWork notifications, worker competencies, air-monitoring records and waste documentation. Monitor exclusion zones, decontamination arrangements, PPE, RPE, dust suppression and environmental controls. Maintain daily records, photographs, inspection reports, waste dockets and remediation documentation. Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, hold-point inspections and consultant inspections. Promptly report non-conformances, safety concerns, unexpected finds or departures from the approved methodology. Coordinate access, excavation sequencing, plant movements, material transport and interfaces with other Civilscape works. Assist Civilscape with compiling remediation and project completion records. Essential requirements Recognised Class A asbestos removal qualification for friable asbestos. Training and demonstrated experience in both friable and non-friable asbestos remediation. Practical experience working on Class A and Class B asbestos-removal projects. Experience with asbestos-contaminated soil, civil excavation or contaminated-land remediation. Sound understanding of Asbestos Removal Control Plans, SWMS, exclusion zones, decontamination, air monitoring and asbestos-waste procedures. Construction White Card. Current driver licence. Strong safety awareness, communication and record-keeping skills. Ability to provide copies of relevant qualifications and verifiable project references. Highly regarded Experience on council, public-domain or civil infrastructure projects. Experience working under a Remediation Action Plan. Experience coordinating with environmental consultants, occupational hygienists and licensed asbestos assessors. Plant, excavation, shoring or contaminated-soil experience. Current first aid, traffic-control or other relevant construction qualifications. Important clarification This position is Civilscape’s onsite remediation coordination and monitoring role. The successful candidate will not act as the licensed asbestos removal contractor, nominated asbestos-removal supervisor or independent licensed asbestos assessor. All licensed removal and statutory supervision will remain under the appointed Class A asbestos removal contractor.
