In this role, you will lead the implementation of legal, safety and technical standards across the business, helping to protect our customers, safeguard the Tesco brand and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. You will act as a trusted regulatory expert, working closely with internal teams, enforcement agencies and external stakeholders to create a favourable regulatory environment that enables the business to thrive. The role is critical in supporting commercial decision-making, managing regulatory risk and ensuring Tesco Ireland operates to the highest standards of compliance, safety and integrity. This is a 12 month fixed-term contract You will be responsible for - Creating and maintaining a favourable regulatory environment that supports business growth while ensuring compliance with legal and technical requirements. - Monitoring and interpreting changes in legislation and regulations, communicating potential impacts and advising the business on appropriate actions. - Managing relationships with enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies to minimise risk and prevent formal enforcement action. - Leading regulatory responses to incidents, complaints and product recalls, working closely with internal teams to protect customers and the Tesco brand. - Coordinating investigations and responses to complaints from external authorities and stakeholders. - Managing compliance with environmental and product stewardship regulations, including WEEE, Batteries and Repak requirements. - Supporting the business with regulatory programmes and strategic initiatives, including cross-functional projects and policy development. - Providing regulatory advice and risk assessments to support informed business decision-making. - Developing and delivering training materials for stores on regulatory and compliance topics, including restricted sales, biocides, fireworks, medicines and environmental regulations. - Acting as Project Coordinator for the Tesco Ireland Food Safety Management System. - Supporting the review and continuous improvement of policies, standard operating procedures and ways of working. - Working closely with Marketing and Legal teams to review advertising claims and promotional activity for regulatory compliance. - Representing Tesco Ireland with key industry and regulatory groups, including enforcement authorities and relevant industry forums You will need - Experience in a technical, regulatory, compliance or quality-focused role within retail, FMCG, food manufacturing or a related industry. - Strong knowledge of Irish and EU regulatory requirements and an ability to interpret and apply legislation in a commercial environment. - Experience managing relationships with regulatory bodies, enforcement agencies or industry stakeholders. - Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and provide practical business-focused recommendations. - Strong project management skills, with experience coordinating cross-functional initiatives and delivering results. - Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and communicate difficult messages when required. - A high level of personal integrity and a commitment to doing the right thing for customers and the business. - The ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation. - Demonstrated strengths in customer focus, decision-making, negotiation, change management and continuous improvement Whats in it for you?
