Provides staff development guidance to assist staff providing assistance to breast-feeding mothers in hospital environment. Monitors, evaluates and revises breast feeding patient education program to ensure compliance with established national standards for such education. Mentors and evaluates instructors providing breast-feeding education. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing. PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years clinical nursing practice. Demonstrated competency in area of expertise. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years adults teaching. Experience in providing lactation consulting. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certificate in lactation consulting through a national certifying organization required within one year of employment.
