This role provides dedicated, structured testing across Salesforce, integrations and other IT systems, so that changes are released with confidence rather than relying on technical staff to test their own work. As the team's delivery capacity grows, this role removes the need for developers and administrators to coordinate and execute all testing themselves, freeing them to focus on building and supporting the platform. You will act as the quality champion across our core business systems—verifying changes across Salesforce Service Cloud, Field Service, MuleSoft APIs, business systems finance, manufacturing, and data connections with our Alarm Receiving Centre platform before features reach our teams and customers. ABOUT DETERTECH DeterTech is a security technology company operating across six countries, with principal UK sites in Prestwick and Telford. We predict, deter and detect risk on behalf of the people and communities we serve. Our values – Committed, Inclusive and Ambitious – shape how we work every day: we are accountable and deliver excellence; we collaborate and build trust; and we never stop learning while winning in the right way. This is a remote role, with the flexibility to work from home. We also value face-to-face collaboration and would ask for some flexibility to attend occasional in-person meetings or team sessions. Key Responsibilities 1. Test planning and design • Develop test plans, test cases/scripts and test evidence for Salesforce, integration and wider IT system changes. • Translate requirements and acceptance criteria into clear, well-structured test scenarios. • Work closely with the Salesforce Lead, Solution Analyst, and Technical Delivery Manager during sprint planning to review user stories and build test scenarios before development begins. • Create clear, repeatable test cases covering end-to-end operational journeys (such as lead-to-cash, engineer work order dispatch, and invoice creation across integrated systems). 2. Test execution • Carry out system, integration and regression testing across Salesforce and other integrated business systems – not just websites or front-end applications. • Execute manual test scripts and, where relevant, support automated testing. • Test integration data flows and API triggers between MuleSoft, Salesforce, Finance and other business systems and the ARC software platform to ensure data passes accurately without loss or sync errors. • Validate releases inside dedicated sandboxes and staging environments, partnering with administrators and developers using our release management tools (such as Copado) to ensure safe deployments. • Help coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with departmental super-users and operational teams, ensuring feedback is captured clearly. 3. Defect management • Identify, document, triage and retest defects, working closely with developers and administrators. • Maintain clear, accurate defect and test records that the wider team can rely on. • Log clear, reproducible bug reports with complete test steps, expected vs. actual results, and screenshots or system logs. • Participate in defect triage meetings with the Technical Delivery Manager to prioritise fixes and prevent release delays. 4. Continuous improvement • Help build a culture of quality across the team, recommending practical improvements to testing practices and coverage over time. • Build and maintain a core regression test pack to protect critical business processes during regular sprint deployments and tri-annual Salesforce seasonal upgrades. • Explore practical opportunities to introduce lightweight test automation for repetitive integration checks and core user journeys. Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Essential • Demonstrable professional software/system testing experience. • Experience with test planning, test cases/scripts and test evidence. • System, integration and regression testing experience. • Defect identification, documentation, triage and retesting experience. • Ability to translate requirements/acceptance criteria into test scenarios. • Experience testing integrated business systems, not just websites or front-end applications. • Hands-on experience testing end-to-end business workflows across interconnected platforms (for example CRM, ERP, finance, or middleware APIs). • Clear, practical communication skills, comfortable discussing bug steps and edge cases directly with developers, administrators, and non-technical stakeholders. Desirable • Experience testing Salesforce specifically (such as Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Field Service, or custom Flows) . • Familiarity with test automation tools. • ISTQB or an equivalent testing qualification. • Experience working in an Agile delivery team using modern tools (such as Jira, Linear, or Azure DevOps). We are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process. If you require any reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know and we will be happy to support you . Originally posted on Himalayas
