We are looking for a driven, detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our growing Development team. This role will be responsible for helping establish, manage, and continuously improve the software quality assurance process across our applications and internal systems. The ideal candidate is comfortable working closely with developers while independently planning and executing testing activities, identifying risks, documenting defects, and ensuring that new features and system changes meet business and technical requirements before release. This is an opportunity to take ownership of QA within a growing technology team and help shape the testing standards, processes, and tools that support reliable software delivery across TEAM NY. Responsibilities — What You'll Do ● Own and manage the end-to-end QA process for web applications, internal tools, reporting systems, workflow automation, and system integrations. ● Work closely with developers, business stakeholders, and IT leadership to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected system behavior. ● Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test scenarios, checklists, and other QA documentation. ● Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, usability, and user acceptance testing across new features and existing applications. ● Validate frontend functionality built with technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or similar frameworks. ● Test REST APIs and system integrations by validating requests, responses, authentication, error handling, and JSON data. ● Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution and retesting. ● Clearly reproduce and communicate defects, including detailed steps, expected behavior, actual behavior, screenshots, logs, and supporting evidence. ● Partner with developers to troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and identify potential root causes. ● Independently assess release readiness and communicate quality risks, outstanding defects, and testing status to the Development team and IT leadership. ● Assist in establishing QA standards, release checklists, defect management practices, and testing best practices for the Development team. ● Utilize modern AI-assisted tools and automation technologies to improve testing efficiency, documentation, test case generation, and defect analysis. ● Evaluate opportunities to introduce automated testing as the Development team and application portfolio mature. ● Maintain clear QA documentation and contribute to internal technical and development best practices. Qualifications — We Need Someone Who ● Has 2–3 years of professional software quality assurance, software testing, or related application testing experience. ● Has experience independently planning, executing, and managing QA activities for software development projects. ● Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. ● Has hands-on experience testing web-based applications and business systems. ● Has a solid understanding of software development and software testing life cycles. ● Has experience creating test plans, test cases, test scenarios, regression suites, and defect documentation. ● Understands frontend web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web application concepts. ● Is familiar with React or similar frontend frameworks from a testing or development perspective. ● Has experience testing REST APIs, including HTTP requests and responses, JSON payloads, authentication, error handling, and system integrations. ● Has experience using defect tracking or project management platforms such as Jira, GitHub Issues, or similar tools. ● Has a basic understanding of Git and version control workflows. ● Has strong analytical and troubleshooting skills and can independently investigate unexpected system behavior. ● Has excellent attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership for software quality. ● Can communicate defects, risks, and testing results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. ● Is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with developers in an agile development environment. ● Is proactive and able to identify gaps in requirements, edge cases, and potential quality risks before production release. ● Is interested in AI-assisted software development and testing tools and modern engineering workflows. ● Has an understanding of fundamental IT concepts, including operating systems, networking, browser behavior, and common troubleshooting techniques. Nice to Have: ● Experience with automated testing tools or frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar technologies. ● Experience writing basic automation scripts using JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, or another programming language. ● Experience testing React-based applications. ● Exposure to AWS or other cloud-based development and testing environments. ● Familiarity with authentication and authorization methods ● Experience testing APIs, third-party integrations, automation workflows, dashboards, or reporting systems. ● Familiarity with SQL and the ability to perform basic database queries for data validation and troubleshooting. ● Experience with performance, security, accessibility, or mobile/responsive application testing. ● Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines or integrating automated testing into software deployment workflows. ● Experience with healthcare-related applications, healthcare data integrations, or regulated business environments. ● Experience with AI-assisted software development, QA, test generation, or debugging tools. ● Mandarin Chinese language skills are a plus. Additional Information ● Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. ● Location: Hybrid; 3–4 days per week at our Flushing, NY office. ● This role will work closely with the Development team but is expected to independently organize, manage, and execute day-to-day QA activities. ● The successful candidate will have an opportunity to help establish and mature TEAM NY’s software QA standards, processes, and testing practices as the Development team continues to grow.
