Project Manager – Construction Management

We are proudly veteran-owned. The Opportunity HorizonWorks is seeking a Project Manager – Construction Management to support our growing portfolio of construction projects. This position is designed for a well-rounded construction professional who is comfortable working across different project types, disciplines, and delivery environments. Depending on the assignment, the Project Manager may support an owner, construction manager, general contractor, agency, or other project stakeholder and may be responsible for managing a specific discipline or workstream within a larger project. One assignment may involve architectural construction. Another may require management of an MEP package, field operations, facilities improvements, infrastructure, or broader construction management responsibilities. Versatility is essential. We do not expect one person to be a technical expert in every construction discipline. We do expect our Project Managers to have strong enough construction and project-management fundamentals to understand an assignment, ask the right questions, coordinate the right people, learn unfamiliar scopes, solve problems, and successfully carry their responsibilities across the finish line. What You'll Do Manage construction projects, workstreams, or assigned scopes from planning through completion and closeout. Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and actively drive issues toward resolution. Manage or support architectural, MEP, civil, structural, facilities, infrastructure, or general construction scopes based on project needs. Coordinate owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, vendors, and other project stakeholders. Review and navigate construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other project documentation. Manage or support RFIs, submittals, change management, procurement, scheduling, cost tracking, quality, punch lists, inspections, and closeout activities. Monitor project progress and proactively identify schedule, cost, coordination, quality, and constructability risks. Lead and participate in project meetings and ensure decisions and action items are appropriately documented and followed through. Develop an understanding of unfamiliar scopes quickly and work collaboratively with technical subject-matter experts when necessary. Maintain strong communication with clients and project stakeholders. Represent HorizonWorks professionally while working within client and partner organizations. Remain flexible as project assignments, responsibilities, and client needs evolve. Do what is necessary within the Project Manager's responsibilities to help carry the project across the finish line. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone with strong construction fundamentals and a dynamic, transferable background. Your career does not need to have followed one specific path. Experience may come from construction management, general contracting, owner's representation, engineering, architecture, facilities, development, infrastructure, specialty contracting, field operations, or other related construction environments. The strongest candidates will demonstrate: Experience managing construction projects or significant portions of larger projects. Strong understanding of the construction project lifecycle. Ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and moving pieces. Ability to work across different construction scopes and disciplines. Confidence navigating drawings, specifications, schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other common project-management processes. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions with incomplete or evolving information. A proactive, ownership-oriented approach to project delivery. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build productive relationships with owners, contractors, consultants, trades, and project teams. Willingness and ability to learn new project types, technical scopes, and client environments. A customer-centric mindset and genuine commitment to helping the client and project team succeed. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent relevant construction experience will also be considered. Approximately 5+ years of progressive construction, engineering, or project-management experience preferred. Experience working in more than one construction environment, discipline, market sector, or project-delivery role is highly valued. Experience with commercial, institutional, transportation, infrastructure, facilities, public-sector, or other complex construction projects is a plus. Experience working for or alongside owners, CM firms, general contractors, design teams, or specialty contractors is a plus. PMP, CCM, PE, EIT, OSHA, or other relevant professional credentials are valued.
