Job Description

A well-established construction and contracting company based in Abu Dhabi is urgently seeking a highly experienced, technically competent, and result-oriented Civil Project Manager to manage and oversee building construction projects in Al Ain.

The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in UAE building construction and contracting operations, with strong technical knowledge of civil engineering, project execution, construction documentation, planning, budgeting, subcontractor management, and UAE construction regulations.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the overall management of construction projects, ensuring successful completion within the approved budget, project schedule, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management & Execution

• Manage and supervise all phases of building construction projects from mobilization to final handover.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and monitor daily construction activities.
• Ensure projects are executed according to approved drawings, specifications, budgets, and schedules.
• Coordinate with site engineers, construction managers, consultants, subcontractors, and clients.
• Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to avoid delays.
• Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, materials, machinery, and equipment.

1. Civil Engineering & Technical Management

• Demonstrate comprehensive technical knowledge of civil engineering and building construction methodologies.
• Oversee structural, concrete, reinforcement, formwork, finishing, and associated construction activities.
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to ensure proper coordination.
• Identify technical issues, drawing discrepancies, and construction challenges.
• Ensure compliance with UAE building codes, municipality requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
• Provide technical guidance and engineering solutions to project teams.

1. Construction Documentation & Contract Administration

• Manage all project-related technical and contractual documentation.
• Review and coordinate shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Prepare and review RFIs, inspection requests, progress reports, and technical correspondence.
• Maintain proper records of site instructions, variation orders, approvals, and project communications.
• Handle contractual correspondence, delay notifications, extension-of-time submissions, and claims documentation.
• Coordinate project documentation with consultants, clients, and relevant authorities.
• Ensure proper preparation and submission of as-built drawings, completion documents, and handover records.

1. Planning, Budgeting & Cost Control

• Develop and monitor construction schedules, project milestones, and execution plans.
• Monitor project budgets, material consumption, manpower productivity, and overall construction costs.
• Coordinate with planning engineers and quantity surveyors regarding project progress and cost control.
• Review BOQs, subcontractor quotations, payment applications, and variation claims.
• Identify potential project risks, delays, and cost overruns.
• Ensure timely completion of projects while maintaining profitability.

1. Consultant, Client & Subcontractor Coordination

• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Attend project progress meetings, technical coordination meetings, and site inspections.
• Manage subcontractor performance, work quality, productivity, and contractual obligations.
• Resolve site-related technical and operational issues professionally.
• Maintain strong working relationships with consultants and local authorities.

1. Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Ensure construction activities comply with approved quality standards and project specifications.
• Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE departments to maintain quality and safety requirements.
• Monitor site inspections, material approvals, and construction quality.
• Ensure compliance with UAE health, safety, environmental, and municipality regulations.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant UAE experience in building construction and contracting is mandatory.
• Proven experience working as a Civil Project Manager or in a comparable senior project management position.
• Strong experience in residential, commercial, multistorey, or other building construction projects.
• Excellent knowledge of UAE construction practices, engineering standards, and authority approval procedures.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural works, finishing works, construction methods, and civil engineering principles.
• Excellent knowledge of construction documentation, technical submissions, contractual correspondence, and project reporting is essential.
• Experience in project planning, cost control, budgeting, BOQ review, and subcontractor management.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera P6, and MS Office.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage construction projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Previous experience handling building construction projects in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain will be an added advantage.
• UAE driving licence preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates who have successfully managed UAE building construction projects from commencement through completion and handover, with excellent technical expertise, documentation skills, commercial awareness, and strong site management capabilities.

Candidates with experience limited to infrastructure, roads, or maintenance projects without substantial building construction experience may not be suitable for this position.
