Project Engineer - 1 Year Contract Role

We are currently hiring a Project Engineer - 1 Year Contract Role on behalf of a prestigious client, based in their Abu Dhabi office.

Job Purpose:

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing HVAC retrofit projects involving Chillers, Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), Pumps, VFDs, associated piping, controls, and electrical systems. The role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to contract specifications and quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

Project Execution

Manage day-to-day execution of retrofit projects from kickoff to handover.

Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, and project scope.

Prepare project schedules, manpower plans, and material requirements.

Coordinate site activities with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of milestones.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans.

Engineering & Technical Support

Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and risk assessments.

Conduct site surveys and develop retrofit execution strategies.

Coordinate installation of:

• Chillers (Air-Cooled / Water-Cooled)
• AHUs
• FCUs
• Primary & Secondary Pumps
• Chilled Water Piping Modifications

Support testing, commissioning, and performance verification activities.

Commercial & Cost Management

• Track project costs against budgets.
• Review subcontractor quotations and invoices.
• Prepare variation orders and change requests.
• Support monthly project forecasting and financial reporting.

Quality & Safety

• Ensure compliance with project quality plans and HSE requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
• Ensure all installations comply with applicable codes and standards.

Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Maintain project records, RFIs, technical submittals, and approvals.
• Prepare project closeout documents and handover packages.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of HVAC project experience.
• Experience in retrofit and energy efficiency projects is preferred.
• Knowledge of chilled water systems, HVAC controls.
• Project Planning & Scheduling (MS Project / Primavera)
• HVAC System Design & Retrofit Knowledge
• Cost Control & Budget Management
