Founded in London in 2007, our work spans architecture, interior design, hospitality, F&B, commercial, residential and multidisciplinary design. Our approach brings together creative thinking and technical intelligence. We believe strong design should have a reason behind it — responding to people, place, operation, materiality and the realities of how buildings are constructed and used. As we expand our UK commercial portfolio, we are looking for an experienced Project Architect with strong technical and construction-stage experience to join our UK studio. The Role This is a project-leading position for someone who can take genuine ownership of project delivery. You will work closely with the Principal and wider multidisciplinary project teams, leading projects from developed design through technical design, construction and completion. We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable developing a design, interrogating a technical detail, reviewing a drawing package, coordinating consultants, chairing a project meeting or walking a construction site and identifying issues before they become problems. This is not a purely production-based role. We want someone who can understand the design intent, organise the people and information required to deliver it, make informed decisions and drive projects forward. What You'll Be Doing You will: Lead architectural projects through design development, technical design and construction. Take day-to-day ownership of assigned projects, programmes, deliverables and coordination. Develop and review architectural drawing and technical information packages. Review plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules and specifications. Provide clear design and technical mark-ups to project teams. Coordinate architecture with interior design, structure, MEP, fire, lighting and other specialist disciplines. Lead or participate in multidisciplinary design and technical coordination meetings. Identify design, technical and coordination risks before they affect delivery. Maintain the original design intent as projects progress into technical development. Review consultant and specialist information critically rather than simply incorporating it. Coordinate commercial fit-out and existing-building interfaces. Work within BIM-led project environments and review coordinated Revit information. Attend client, consultant and contractor meetings. Attend sites and review works against the design information. Respond to RFIs and construction-stage technical queries. Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, technical submittals, samples and specialist information where appropriate. Support design change management during construction. Participate in snagging, handover and defects reviews where required. Direct, brief and review the work of other members of the project team. Ensure architectural information is coordinated, complete and appropriate before issue. Contribute to the continued development of DiA's technical, BIM and project-delivery standards. About You We are particularly interested in candidates with experience across one or more of: commercial interiors; hospitality; restaurants and F&B; workplace; retail; healthcare / clinical environments; leisure; refurbishment and complex fit-out. You should have strong experience beyond the concept stages and be able to demonstrate projects that you have personally helped take through technical design and construction. You should bring: strong architectural and technical knowledge; genuine UK construction-stage and site experience; practical knowledge of UK Building Regulations; strong multidisciplinary consultant coordination experience; confidence reviewing technical drawing packages; strong Revit capability; experience working within BIM-led project environments; good understanding of construction detailing and buildability; confidence dealing directly with clients, consultants and contractors; experience directing and reviewing the work of other designers; strong organisational and project-management ability; excellent written and spoken English. ARB registration would be advantageous for the individual appointed, although we are primarily interested in demonstrated experience, technical capability and project-delivery ability.
