Production Manager (Upper-Midwest Based)

Liechty InternationalУдалённо · Remote

The Production Manager builds and runs the system that moves every Liechty home from a completed sale to charge-out (closed out and handed to accounting). This role does not decide individual jobs. It designs the production calendar and the rules everyone schedules by, makes crew and trade availability visible, and keeps salespeople, crews and subcontractors working from one plan.

Liechty's production system does not exist yet, so this is a senior role for someone who has built one before and can grow it to 150 or more homes in progress.

We believe that a great Production Manager will be a system builder who designs the calendar and its rules, and defends them; a facilitator who helps salespeople, crews and trades get every home through the system; a quartermaster who lines up crews, trucks and materials before a shortage arrives; and a teacher who trains everyone to run the process the same way.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Build the production system from the ground up: one shared calendar from factory order to charge-out, with milestone tracking for every home.
  • Define and defend its rules: homes enter only through the Sales-to-Operations handoff, and crews and subcontractors are committed only after readiness checks clear.
  • Give salespeople a clear, self-serve way to put homes on the calendar and see crew and trade availability, so they plan around real capacity instead of booking crews directly.
  • Coordinate build and delivery dates with manufacturers and carriers, and surface crew, truck and material shortages before they delay a home.
  • Train salespeople, crews, subcontractors and branch staff at launch with clear guides and checklists, then keep training as the system changes, onboarding new hires and subcontractors.
  • Set milestone and photo-documentation standards so each milestone is verified before the schedule advances or payment is approved.
  • Run same-day escalation for slipped dates: flag at-risk homes, bring the right people together on a recovery plan, and make sure the salesperson tells the customer first.
  • Own the system's data and reporting, and feed recurring delays and trade issues back into its rules.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction, homebuilding or production project management, including multi-site, scattered-site or residential work.
  • Hands-on experience building or implementing a scheduling system for many concurrent jobs.
  • Proven ability to build trade partner accountability (communication standards, documentation, scorecards) that works without constant on-site supervision.
  • Strong facilitation and leadership: the people skills to bring everyone onto one process, the toughness to hold its rules, and experience coordinating and training teams on a shared calendar.
  • Systems fluency (scheduling software, Google Workspace, spreadsheets, photo documentation), strong organization and high Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

Preferred

  • Manufactured or modular housing experience: factory coordination, transport and set.
  • Experience with lean or critical-chain scheduling, or with dashboards and KPIs in Power BI or Excel.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Business.

Reporting & Success Measures

Reports to the VP of Home Operations. Directs set crew leads and subcontractors on production work. Works daily with Sales, the Warranty Manager, and manufacturing partners. This role can be performed remotely and requires travel two to four times a year.

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Homes completed before their scheduled deadlines, milestone by milestone.
  • At-risk homes flagged as soon as a date slips.
  • Crew and subcontractor schedule compliance and utilization, with every home booked through the calendar and readiness checks cleared before crews are committed.

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $82,000 – $115,000 per year. The final compensation plan is subject to location, experience, performance and other factors.
  • Full benefits package (health, retirement, paid time off, cell phone stipend and professional development).
