# Production Manager **GNG Group** · Normanton · `On-site` 🕒 **Статус:** *Опубликовано: вчера* · *Источник: Indeed* --- ### About the Role Role Purpose As Production Manager, you'll be responsible for the efficient and effective control of daily production across our range, including covers, domestic mattresses, contract mattresses, medical products and sports products. You'll manage complex, multi-stage assembly lines covering raw material conversion, core assembly (spring or foam), quilting and final finishing, reporting to the Operations Manager on the status of the production plan and what is needed to achieve the despatch plan. Leading both equipment and people, you'll manage the rejection and reporting of damaged stock, deliver set targets on Quality, Cost and Efficiency, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, staffing and operational excellence, making sure factory health and safety standards are adhered to by every team member. We have 2 shift patterns in operation of 8.00 - 16.00 and 14.30 - 22.30. Key Responsibilities General Role ● Workflow: Organise daily schedules, assign tasks to team members and manage labour resources to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). ● Quality control: Monitor production rejects, conduct inspections, write off stock and request product to be replanned. Complete corrective actions for any non-conforming product linked to your areas, and support the business's corrective action teams as and when needed. ● Process improvement: Use modern manufacturing methodologies to identify inefficiencies and reduce waste or downtime. ● Reporting: Compile and analyse data to provide regular progress updates during the day and at each start-of-shift meeting. Generate monthly reporting on the KPIs linked to production and submit it to the Operations Manager. ● People management: Manage team members day to day, including performance, training, holidays and absence. ● Cost control: Consider cost in every part of daily working life. Production ● Comply with, and always demonstrate, health and safety at work. ● Manage production so that daily, weekly and monthly schedules meet demand while optimising the use of specialised machinery. ● Conduct a start-of-shift meeting with the Production Supervisors and the team. ● Look at ways to improve production targets with the Production Supervisors to deliver product to the warehouse in full and on time. ● Check that daily machine checks are signed off and no remedial actions are required. ● Provide daily handover reports at the end of each shift, stating completion, rejects and build status. ● Ensure efficient collaboration and coordination between relevant departments, such as Procurement and Distribution. ● Ensure housekeeping within the factory is of the highest standard. ● Ensure a continuous improvement approach to production. ● Ensure risk assessments are reviewed as per schedule. ● Ensure accident investigations are carried out correctly and the Operations Manager is informed. ● Ensure training records are maintained for all employees on shift, with adequate cover for holidays and sickness. ● Undertake projects and present outcomes to the Operations Manager. ● Lead by example with a can-do attitude and actively promote the company values. ● Bring the status of production to the daily meeting, declaring all challenges and opportunities so the business can take action to support production. ● Sign off specifications for new products and train them in so that people get it right first time. Health & Safety ● Maintain compliance with all UK health and safety legislation and internal policies. ● Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across the areas you are responsible for. ● Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability among all staff. Staffing Levels, Recruitment and Workforce Management ● Plan and manage staffing levels to meet production demands efficiently and cost-effectively. ● Lead the recruitment process in collaboration with HR, including defining role requirements, interviewing and selecting candidates. ● Oversee onboarding, induction and training programmes for new starters to ensure smooth integration into the team. ● Manage daily staff performance, ensuring clear communication of roles, responsibilities and expectations. ● Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews and appraisals. ● Support staff development and retention through coaching, mentoring and identifying training needs. ● Handle employee relations matters, including conducting investigations, issuing disciplinaries and supporting grievance processes in line with company policies and UK employment law. ● Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performance work culture. Key Accountabilities ● Communicate the manufacturing strategy to the Production Supervisors and the team. ● Identify to the Production Supervisors any issues, bottlenecks and problems that need to be resolved to run a safe, clean and efficient production line. ● Monitor and look to improve standards, such as quality, health and safety, and housekeeping. ● Carry out individual appraisals and objective setting, and ensure the skills matrix is kept live and up to date. ● Identify training plans for the team to maintain a skilled and efficient workforce. ● Ensure the disciplinary process is followed and administered by the Production Supervisors. ● Ensure risk assessments and accident investigations are checked and carried out correctly, and that the Operations Manager is informed. ● Ensure new employees are inducted and trained to the standards required by the Production Supervisors. ● Coach and mentor the Production Supervisors so they can run the production line to the required standard when you are unavailable or off site. ● Keep the Operations Manager informed on all issues at all times, especially health and safety, material shortages, machine breakdowns and customer service. Administrative Tasks ● Maintain relevant documentation, such as production records. ● Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of tasks. ● Produce Standard Operating Procedures in collaboration with the Compliance Manager.
