Our portfolio includes renowned brands such as Monster, Black+Decker, Energizer, RCA, and Xtreme. We are looking for a technically minded Product Development Specifications Manager to define, document, and validate every product we bring to market, from first concept through mass production. Job Description: Reporting to the SVP of Product Development & Design, the PD Specs Manager owns the creation of the Product Feature List for every item we make. The PFL is the master specification document for each product. It codifies the product, confirms pricing and details, and guides the creation of packaging and the QA/QC process. You will work closely with our in-house design and engineering teams, our sourcing teams, and our factory partners in China and other overseas locations to make sure every product is fully defined, accurately documented, and built to spec. Some products are designed in-house and must be specified from the ground up. Others are sourced from factories, and for those you will write the specifications through hands-on testing, measurement, and discovery. We want someone who is genuinely passionate about technology, who loves to push buttons, take things apart, and understand exactly how they work. Key Responsibilities: - Create and maintain a complete PFL for every product, including marketing features, technical specifications, key component callouts, certification requirements, and testing and measuring metrics. - Develop specifications from the ground up for new, in-house designed products, working with design and engineering to translate concepts into clear, buildable requirements. - Write specifications for factory-sourced products through in-depth testing, teardown, measurement, and discovery, verifying factory claims against real-world performance. - Define the test methods, tolerances, and pass/fail criteria that guide the QA/QC process and factory inspections. - Identify the certification and compliance requirements for each product and category (e.g., UL, FCC, CE, RoHS) and document them in the PFL. - Work with the sourcing and product teams to confirm pricing, features, and details against the finalized specification before a product is approved. - Provide approved PFL information to the packaging team so that package copy, feature callouts, and claims are accurate. - Communicate directly with overseas suppliers, primarily in China, to clarify specifications, resolve discrepancies, and review samples and pre-production units against the PFL, documenting deviations and required corrections. - Maintain an organized, version-controlled library of PFLs, keeping them current as products change and ensuring specifications are complete and approved at each development milestone. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field) strongly preferred; degrees in Design, IT/Computer Science, or another technical field will be considered with relevant experience. - Proven experience in product specification, product testing, quality engineering, or product development, preferably in consumer electronics. - Strong technical understanding of electronic components, cables and accessories, power and battery products, and manufacturing processes. - Working knowledge of product certifications, safety standards, and compliance testing. - Experience using test and measurement tools and writing test procedures. - Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Clear, precise written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical documentation and to work effectively with overseas partners across time zones. - Proven ability to build and maintain supplier relationships. - Proficiency in Excel and in project management and document control tools. - A genuine enthusiasm for technology and a desire to explore how products work. Pay: From $65,000.00 per year Benefits: - 401(k) - 401(k) matching - Dental insurance - Flexible spending account - Health insurance - Health savings account - Life insurance - Paid time off - Vision insurance Work Location: In person
