They also negotiate pricing and manage product production.The ideal candidate must be fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and English and able to communicate effectively with factory owners, engineers, production managers, and suppliers in mainland China. Core ResponsibilitiesFactory Sourcing and Supplier Development - Identify, research, and qualify factories in the kitchen electrics and small appliance sector. - Develop and maintain a network of qualified manufacturing partners and component suppliers in mainland China. - Evaluate factories based on technical capabilities, production capacity, quality systems, certifications, tooling capabilities, financial stability, pricing, and prior experience. - Conduct supplier audits and factory capability assessments in coordination with the engineering and quality teams. - Request and compare quotations, tooling costs, minimum order quantities, lead times, payment terms, and production capacity. - Negotiate favorable pricing and commercial terms with factories, subject to company approval. - Recommend suitable factories for new product development and ongoing production. - Establish backup suppliers and contingency plans for critical products or components. - Monitor supplier performance and address recurring quality, cost, delivery, or communication issues. Product Design Translation and Factory Communication - Develop a thorough understanding of approved product designs, drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and engineering requirements. - Communicate product requirements clearly to factories. - Confirm that suppliers understand design intent, critical dimensions, materials, finishes, functionality, and performance requirements. - Coordinate technical questions between factory personnel and the internal engineering team. Factory Execution and Compliance - Monitor factory progress against approved engineering plans and production requirements. - Verify that tooling, components, materials, and manufacturing processes conform to specifications. - Identify deviations from approved designs and escalate them to engineering and management. - Prevent unauthorized substitutions, design changes, or process modifications. - Maintain documentation demonstrating that production aligns with approved requirements. Prototype and Sample Review - Coordinate prototypes, engineering samples, pre-production samples, and production samples with factories. - Compare samples against approved drawings, specifications, and reference units. - Document issues, discrepancies, and corrective actions. - Work with engineering to obtain approval for proposed design or manufacturing changes. - Track sample approval status and ensure factories produce only approved versions. Quality Control and Production Readiness - Partner with the Quality Assurance team to establish inspection requirements and acceptance criteria. - Participate in factory audits, production inspections, and pre-shipment reviews. - Monitor recurring quality issues and ensure factories implement corrective actions. - Review production reports, inspection findings, and defect trends. - Confirm that products meet approved performance, appearance, safety, packaging, and compliance standards before shipment. Production and Supply Coordination - Monitor production schedules and factory capacity. - Identify risks that could affect product launches, replenishment, or customer delivery timelines. - Coordinate production planning with operations, inventory, and logistics teams. - Track tooling, component availability, purchase orders, and production milestones. - Provide regular updates on factory performance, development status, quality concerns, costs, and open issues. China Travel and Factory Support - Travel to China for factory sourcing, supplier evaluations, product development, production monitoring, quality reviews, and supplier meetings. - Support extended trips of approximately three to four weeks, potentially multiple times per year. - Conduct on-site reviews to ensure factory execution matches approved company requirements. - Build strong working relationships with factory owners and their teams. Language Requirement - Fluent Mandarin Chinese and English required. - Must be able to conduct business conversations, factory negotiations, technical discussions, production reviews, and written communications in Mandarin Chinese. - Must be able to accurately translate or communicate product specifications, quality requirements, corrective actions, commercial terms, and production concerns between the company and mainland China suppliers. Pay: $70,667.84 - $85,105.35 per year Work Location: In person
