In this key leadership role, you will define the vision, strategy, and success of our Communication Software portfolio, helping create life-changing solutions for people with communication needs. As Product Area Lead, you will be ultimately accountable for the Communication Software area, including product strategy, portfolio direction, commercial performance, and P&L responsibility. You will provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to a team of Product Managers, ensuring clear priorities, strong execution, and measurable progress toward business and product objectives. Working closely with Engineering, Design, Market Units, Sales, Marketing, and other key stakeholders, you will drive market insights, innovation, customer value, and sustainable growth across the area. What you'll do - Set and own the long-term vision, strategy and business direction for the Communication Software area, ensuring alignment with company and portfolio priorities. - Own the area roadmap and ensure Product Managers translate strategic direction into clear priorities, customer outcomes, product requirements and delivery plans. - Lead, coach and follow up on 3-4 direct reports, ensuring clear ownership, capability development, performance expectations and progress toward agreed goals. - Guide and challenge Product Managers in discovery, rapid experimentation, market research, customer insight development and evidence-based prioritization. - Drive business planning for the area, including growth opportunities, innovation focus areas, investment needs, value drivers and commercial performance. - Create alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, Market Units and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated execution and clear trade-off decisions. - Be accountable for the area P&L, including revenue and profitability performance, business case quality, pricing input, financial feasibility and follow-up on agreed commercial targets. - Ensure Product Managers plan and execute successful launches, lifecycle management and end-of-life activities across the Communication Software area. - Ensure that product strategy, discovery, development, launch and lifecycle decisions incorporate applicable regulatory, quality, security, privacy and accessibility requirements, in close collaboration with Engineering, Quality and Regulatory Affairs. - Communicate area strategy, priorities, decisions, trade-offs, risks and progress clearly to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. - Represent the Communication Software area internally and externally as the accountable leader for area direction, customer value and business impact. Decision authority - Decide area-level product priorities and roadmap trade-offs within approved strategy, budget and investment frames. - Approve area-level business cases, product proposals and lifecycle recommendations before escalation to portfolio or executive decision forums when required. - Approve prioritization of discovery, development and launch efforts across the Communication Software area. - Make or recommend pricing, packaging and commercial decisions for the area in collaboration with relevant commercial stakeholders and within applicable approval processes. - Approve goals, priorities and performance expectations for direct reports and conduct regular follow-up on progress, development and delivery. - Escalate decisions that exceed area mandate, approved budget, strategic scope or agreed governance principles to the Head of Product Management or relevant decision forum. What we're looking for - Master’s degree in business, technology, or a related field. - Demonstrated leadership experience, including people management, coaching, and development of direct reports. - Minimum 8 years’ experience in software product development and product management, including end-to-end responsibility for a product line, product portfolio or comparable product area across strategy, development, launch and lifecycle management and/or SaaS product management. - Demonstrated experience in developing and managing software product in a regulated environment, including working with applicable quality, regulatory, security and privacy requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Experience from medical device software is highly preferred. - Strong commercial and financial acumen plus experience in building business cases for investment decisions, and prioritization. - Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to influence and align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams. - Strong internal drive, strategic thinking and motivation to challenge the status quo while creating clarity, focus and momentum for the team. - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead, guide and gather teams around common objectives across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales and Market Units. Nice to have - Certification in product management methodologies. - Training or certification in customer-centric design or technology product design. - Professional development in scaled agile frameworks or enterprise product management.
