As a Principal Engineer for Power Plant, Fuels & Gas , you will serve as a recognized technical authority for fuel and gas systems across thermal power generation, industrial energy, and emerging energy transition projects. You will lead the development of fuel and gas strategies, provide technical oversight on complex projects, and support clients in navigating evolving fuel technologies, regulatory requirements, and decarbonization initiatives. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and global subject matter experts, you will help shape major infrastructure investments while delivering safe, practical, and innovative solutions for clients worldwide. Key Responsibilities - Act as the lead specialist and technical authority for power plant fuel and gas systems. - Provide strategic guidance on fuel selection, fuel infrastructure, fuel security, and long-term fuel supply planning. - Lead technical delivery across feasibility studies, concept development, FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and operational support. - Support the development of thermal generation, combined-cycle, peaking plant, and industrial energy projects. - Provide subject matter expertise in natural gas, LNG, LPG, diesel, fuel oil, hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, biofuels, synthetic fuels, and blended fuel applications. - Lead technical reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and Safety in Design workshops. - Review and approve engineering deliverables, technical studies, specifications, vendor documents, and design packages. - Provide technical leadership during procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities. - Advise clients on energy transition pathways, fuel flexibility strategies, and future-fuel readiness. - Mentor engineers and contribute to the development of Jacobs' technical capability in fuels and thermal generation. - Support proposal preparation, business development activities, and client relationship management. Here's what you'll need - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Energy, or a related engineering discipline. - Experience in power generation, fuel systems, gas infrastructure, or related energy industries. - Demonstrated experience leading fuel and gas system engineering for thermal power projects through concept, FEED, and detailed design phases. - Deep technical knowledge of gas receiving facilities, pressure reduction systems, gas transmission infrastructure, fuel storage, fuel handling, fuel conditioning, combustion systems, and emissions considerations. - Experience supporting conventional thermal generation and energy transition technologies. - Strong understanding of applicable international standards and regulations, including ASME, API, NFPA, IEC, and ISO requirements. - Proven technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing experience. - Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, RPEQ, CEng, or equivalent professional accreditation preferred. #LI-SL1 From our inclusive employee networks to our positive mental health champions – we’re committed to driving a culture of caring where you can be you.
