The paralegal will work closely with trial attorneys on matters that require trial preparation, manage evidentiary documentation and deadlines, assist with motion practice, and prepare mediation submissions. During lighter trial-calendar periods, the paralegal will assist attorneys with other litigation projects as assigned. Key Responsibilities · Assemble and maintain trial binders and electronic trial folders, including pleadings, verified bills of particulars and supplements, discovery responses, court orders, deposition transcripts, medical records, expert materials, and exhibits. · Prepare trial-readiness checklists; track trial dates, pretrial conference orders, witness and exhibit deadlines, and court-specific trial rules. · Prepare and coordinate subpoenas, including trial subpoenas and subpoenas duces tecum, service, witness scheduling, and follow-up on outstanding records. · Collect and organize certified medical, hospital, billing, employment, and other business records; obtain appropriate custodian certifications and foundations for admissibility. · Coordinate expert and treating-provider materials, availability, and testimony; assist attorneys with expert disclosure and trial witness preparation. · Prepare witness and exhibit lists, proposed exhibit labels, deposition designations, impeachment materials, chronologies, demonstratives, and trial presentation materials. · Assist attorneys with drafting and assembling motions in limine, trial-related motions, oppositions, affirmations, exhibits, proposed jury charges, verdict sheets, and trial memoranda. · Prepare mediation packages and settlement presentations, including liability summaries, medical chronologies, treatment and damages summaries, records, liens as applicable, and key exhibits. · Prepare and edit correspondence, pleadings, motion and trial preparation documents (i.e. 3101d, 3122a, 4532a, etc. · Assist trial attorneys with additional litigation assignments and special projects when the trial calendar is less active. Qualifications · At least 5 years of New York plaintiff personal injury litigation experience (including but not limited to labor law, motor vehicle, premises cases), with hands-on trial preparation required. · Working knowledge of New York CPLR, NYSCEF, trial subpoenas and New York State court procedures. · Experience organizing trial exhibits, preparing mediation packages, and supporting trial-related motion practice. · Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, writing skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines independently.
