i2W LtdBrighton BN1 9SB

  • Salary: £30,000 to £33,000, plus bonuses tied to audience targets we agree together
  • Location: Hybrid, with 1 to 2 days a week at our office on the university campus at Falmer, Brighton
  • Reports to: Jonathan Kiekbusch, Founder and Managing Director

The short version

In 2027 we're going to make a lot of video. Several hundred pieces at least, possibly a thousand, across YouTube, Rednote, LinkedIn and Instagram, built around one founder and twelve years of work in search.

Jonathan Kiekbusch started SwishDM (swishdm.com) in 2014. Since then he's grown organic revenue for consumer brands you'll have heard of, built and sold his own eCom brand, and spoken on stages from Chicago to Shenzhen, China. Almost none of it has been filmed properly.

You'd be the person who changes that. As the first hire dedicated to Jonathan's personal brand, you'll own the first camera and the first channel strategy. You'll start small with us, and if it goes the way we think it will, you'll end up running a content studio.

We're SwishDM, a specialist SEO, GEO and digital PR agency in Brighton. We help medium to enterprise brands, mostly in eCommerce, grow organic revenue across the US and all English speaking markets, using our own tools, dashboards and frameworks built for a world where people search on Google and ask AI assistants.

What you'd be building

Jonathan's goal for 2027 is a personal brand at real scale, with several hundred to a thousand pieces of content going out across platforms.

That number comes from multiplication more than from endless shoot days. A 30-minute keynote can become a long-form YouTube video, 15 to 20 shorts, and a set of stills and quote cards, each cut differently for YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and Instagram. Add a steady weekly rhythm of studio content in Brighton and the numbers stack up fast. You'll design that system and run it.

Two references tell you the level we're aiming for:

  • Caleb Ralston's work building Gary Vaynerchuk's brand shows what one ambitious person behind the camera can do for a founder: documenting everything, turning a few big moments into a constant stream, and building a brand with the camera always on.
  • Alex Hormozi's straight value-sharing is the tone we want on screen. Useful, specific, no filler. People should finish a video knowing something they can act on.

Study both, then help us make something that's recognisably ours.

What you'll have to work with

Our online presence is small. The story behind it is twelve years deep, and here's what's already in place.

  • Clients people recognise. We work with market-leading consumer brands across the US and China, including Insta360, GEEKOM and Casely.
  • Real stages. Jonathan has spoken at BrightonSEO, CrossBorder Digital's conference in China, the Shenzhen SEO conference and the Chiang Mai SEO Conference, and SwishDM runs its own GEO conference in China. We're working on bigger stages for 2027.
  • Travel, for the right person. Jonathan spends a lot of time in China and across Asia. When a trip is worth filming, we'd want you there.
  • A founder ready to go on camera, with strong opinions on where search and AI are heading and the client results to back them up.
  • Strong connections to market leaders and influencers should we want to do interviews or collabs.
  • A content writing team to help with ideas, research and scripts.
  • A partner creative agency in China that handles our Chinese platforms, so you can focus on YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Kit. Tell us what you need to do the job well and we'll sort it.

What you'll do

You'll own video end to end, from the plan to the numbers.

Plan

  • Build and run the posting schedule for Jonathan's and SwishDM's channels
  • Work with our content team to turn ideas, talks and scripts into shoot plans, adding what you know works on each platform
  • Decide what goes where, and when

Shoot

  • Set up a simple, repeatable filming space at the office so we can shoot often without fuss
  • Run shoots in the office, at events and on the road
  • Direct Jonathan on camera so he comes across natural and sharp, and tell him when a take isn't good enough
  • Capture every talk and conference appearance so each stage turns into weeks of content

Edit

  • Start with 2 to 3 short-form videos a week for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, LinkedIn and Instagram Reels, and build towards daily posting as the system matures
  • Produce 1 to 2 long-form videos a month, mainly for YouTube
  • Cut every long piece down into shorts, clips and stills, so nothing we film gets used only once

Publish

  • Get videos live on every platform, adapting formats, captions and thumbnails for each
  • Keep an eye on comments and flag the conversations Jonathan should jump into
  • Supply footage of Jonathan to our partner agency in China, and help with filming when they need it

Measure

  • Track views, watch time and follower growth, and share a simple monthly report on what's working and what's next
  • Agree audience targets with Jonathan and own hitting them

How you grow here

We'll be straight with you: £30,000 to £33,000 is less than an experienced editor could earn at a big brand. Here's what we offer on top.

  • Bonuses tied to audience growth. Once you've settled in, we'll agree audience targets together (followers, views, watch time) and set bonuses for hitting them. When the channels grow, you earn more.
  • A path to Head of Video. If this works the way we expect, one person won't be enough to keep up. The plan is that you build and lead that team.
  • Ownership from day one. You're our first dedicated video hire. Format, style and schedule decisions are yours to make and defend.
  • A portfolio piece most editors never get. A founder brand built from a standing start, with numbers you can point to.
  • Travel to conferences and client cities when the trip is worth filming.

Who you are

You're a one-person studio with big ambitions, and you want a founder and a brand to prove it with.

Experience

  • 3+ years shooting and editing social video for a brand, agency or creator
  • A track record of growing an audience, with numbers you can show us
  • Strong short-form editing: hooks, pacing, captions, and a feel for what each platform rewards
  • Long-form editing experience, ideally on YouTube
  • Confident in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut or similar
  • Comfortable filming with a compact kit: framing, lighting and sound
  • Hands-on with scheduling tools and platform analytics
  • Happy to use AI to work faster

How you work

  • You drive things. You keep the schedule moving and chase us when you need something
  • You take the team's ideas and make them better on camera
  • You watch the numbers, notice what's working and suggest what to change
  • You're comfortable directing people on camera, including the founder
  • You're curious about SEO, AI search and eCommerce, or happy to learn fast. You'll be surrounded by people who live it

Bonus points

  • B2B, agency, tech or marketing content experience
  • Founder-led or personal brand content experience
  • Motion graphics or thumbnail design skills
  • Scriptwriting or copywriting experience
  • Experience boosting organic content with paid social
  • Mandarin, or experience working with teams in China

This isn't for you if

  • You need chasing to hit a publishing date
  • You only want to edit and would rather stay out from behind the camera
  • You'd rather not be judged on growth and results
  • You want a finished brand guide and a fixed brief before you start

What great looks like at 90 days

  • A posting schedule agreed and running across our chosen platforms
  • 2 to 3 shorts a week going out, and your first long-form videos live
  • A repeatable workflow for turning one talk or long video into a batch of shorts
  • Audience targets and bonuses agreed with Jonathan
  • Your first monthly report showing what's working and what's next

The practical bits

  • Salary: £30,000 to £33,000, plus bonuses tied to audience targets
  • Hybrid working: in the office 1 to 2 days a week to plan and film, at our base on the university campus at Falmer, Brighton. Edit from home and we'll leave you to it. Come in more if you like
  • Kit: provided
  • Travel: occasional, for the right person
  • Reports to: Jonathan Kiekbusch

How to apply

Skip the cover letter. We want to see you on camera.

  • Show us you. Send your CV and a 1-minute video introducing yourself (throw in a few of your favourite things) and your best work. Tell us about a channel you grew: where it started, what you did and where it ended up. Include 2 to 3 links to your work.
  • Talk to us online . We'll invite a shortlist to a video call with Jonathan to talk through your work, how you'd approach growing his and SwishDM's channels, and what you'd need to do it.
  • Meet us. The strongest candidates from the online interviews get an in-person interview in Brighton.

If you want to build a founder's brand from the ground up, help a search agency practise what it preaches, and grow as fast as the channels do, send us your video.
