As we continue to grow and strengthen our organisation, we are looking for an experienced and proactive People & HR Manager to lead our people function. The Role This is a hands-on management role with responsibility for the effective delivery and continued development of HR and people practices across the organisation. You will work closely with the Directors, senior leadership team, operational managers and wider workforce, providing confident and pragmatic HR advice while helping us build a positive, accountable and high-performing culture. We are looking for someone who can balance people, culture, compliance and commercial awareness . You won't simply administer HR processes. We want someone who will take ownership of the people function, identify opportunities for improvement and help our managers become confident and effective people leaders. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Leading the day-to-day HR and people function across the organisation. Providing expert HR advice and support to managers and senior leaders. Managing employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, capability, absence and performance management. Ensuring HR practices remain compliant with UK employment legislation and CQC requirements. Supporting safer recruitment, onboarding and employment compliance within a regulated care environment. Developing and reviewing HR policies, procedures, contracts and supporting documentation. Coaching managers to handle people matters confidently, consistently and fairly. Supporting workforce planning, retention and succession planning. Monitoring workforce trends and developing meaningful HR KPIs, including turnover, retention, absence, vacancies and employee relations. Supporting probation, supervision, appraisal and performance management processes. Improving employee engagement, communication and staff experience. Supporting organisational change, restructuring and business growth where required. Working collaboratively with recruitment, training, clinical and operational teams. Supporting initiatives relating to equality, diversity, inclusion and workplace culture. Identifying HR risks and ensuring appropriate actions are taken. Using people data to identify trends and recommend improvements. Helping us continually improve the way we recruit, develop, support and retain our people. About You We are looking for someone who is experienced, credible and comfortable taking ownership. Essential: CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent recognised HR/People Management qualification. Significant practical HR experience. Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice. Experience independently managing employee relations cases. Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance processes. Confident advising and constructively challenging managers at all levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities. Comfortable working with HR systems, data and KPIs. Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. A practical, solutions-focused approach to HR. A genuine commitment to creating a positive and respectful workplace culture. Desirable: Experience within health and social care. Experience within a CQC-regulated organisation. Knowledge of safer recruitment requirements. Experience supporting a geographically dispersed or community-based workforce. Experience developing HR systems, processes and management reporting. Experience supporting organisational growth or change.
