POSITION DESCRIPTION Reporting directly to and working under the direction of the General Counsel, the Part-Time Executive Legal Assistant to the General Counsel will provide confidential administrative and paralegal support to the General Counsel and be a critical part of the organization’s Legal Team. This position supports the General Counsel and internal legal activities by processing litigation holds, coordinating communications, maintaining files and records, monitoring compliance with labor agreements and statutory and regulatory filings, preparing and processing documents, and scheduling meetings, travel, and related logistics in accordance with Color Of Change policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess superb organizational and communication skills; creative problem-solving skills; knowledge of legal procedures, process, concepts, and terminology; the ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously; and the ability to adapt quickly to meet changing deadlines and priorities. RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include: - Organize and maintain legal matter files, board governance documents and correspondence, contract and other legal templates, internal policy documents and written protocols, and assist with the maintenance of personnel and labor relations files; - Ensure efficient processing of litigation holds, discovery materials, legal correspondence and filings; - Format and help prepare correspondence, memos, reports, and presentations; - Assist in the preparation of materials and presentations to governing boards and staff, to include PPT presentations, training materials, resolutions, board minutes, charters, and other related materials; - Monitor and track filings, registrations, and submissions necessary for nonprofit organizational compliance, governance, and corporate good standing; - Identify and analyze relevant multistate and federal administrative, regulatory, and tax agency requirements and regulations; - Provide confidential administrative support to the General Counsel and coordinate with the People & Culture Team on labor and employee relations matters, to include monitoring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, assisting with handling grievances and developing grievance procedures, workplace investigations, and other matters related to the implementation of the organization’s labor-relations and employment policies and strategy; - Independently use sound judgment and initiative to develop project timelines, anticipate organizational needs, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and perform complex administrative tasks; - Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, meetings, and events, and prepare and submit related expense reimbursement requests in accordance with Color Of Change policies; - Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff and leadership in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient; and, - Other relevant duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - 4+ years of experience in a legal administrative support role to an attorney, preferably in a nonprofit or internal corporate setting. - Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, concepts, forms, documents, practices, and procedures. - Experience working with corporate governance boards, or the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of corporate governance and compliance requirements. - Experience working in a unionized environment, including familiarity with labor relations processes, union representation, and collective bargaining agreements is preferred. - Proficiency in PowerPoint and other applications, and demonstrated ability to configure templates and workflows. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Demonstrated commitment to racial justice and equity. MORE INFORMATION - Location: Remote - FLSA Status: Non-Exempt - Employees Report to this Position: No - Job Classification: Non-Bargaining Unit COMPENSATION This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position scheduled to work 25 hours per workweek. The selected candidate will have the flexibility to schedule their hours throughout the workweek in coordination with the General Counsel’s core work hours and time zone (Mountain Time). This position is non-exempt and compensated on an hourly basis at a rate of $28.00–$40.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Color Of Change offers a competitive benefits package for eligible part-time employees. WORKING ENVIRONMENT Color Of Change (COC) operates under a remote office environment. You will collaborate with colleagues around the United States. This position requires working core hours on a laptop for most of the workday, and may require additional time as necessary to perform job duties and responsibilities.
