The ideal candidate will have at least five years of paralegal experience in litigation and trial work and a background in probate, personal injury, and civil rights matters. Qualifications The ideal candidate: - Has at least five years of paralegal experience in litigation and trial work. - Has worked on probate, personal injury, and civil rights matters. - Knows Illinois state and federal court rules and e-filing systems. - Holds a paralegal certificate or a bachelor’s degree (preferred). - Writes clearly and pays close attention to detail. - Manages several matters at once and meets every deadline. - Uses Microsoft Office and case management software with ease. Responsibilities You will: - Support the firm’s attorneys at every stage of a case, from intake through trial. - Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence for attorney review. - Assist with probate litigation, filings, and court processes, and help open estates for minors. - Prepare written discovery requests and draft responses to discovery that other parties serve. - Collect and review documents and prepare document productions. - Request and track medical records and bills from providers. - Docket deadlines, court appearances, and depositions, and maintain case calendars. - File and serve documents through Illinois e-filing systems and CM/ECF. - Schedule depositions, court reporters, and related logistics. - Prepare deposition and trial exhibits, binders, and witness materials. - Assist attorneys before and during trial. - Gather documents and information from clients and keep clients informed about their cases. Compensation and Benefits The position compensation is set at $60,000 per year. Henderson Parks will consider a higher salary for a candidate whose qualifications and skills warrant it.
