Packing Operation Supervisor

Scope: The Packaging Supervisor oversees the day-to-day Blending operations while strictly following all the GMP sops, including but not limited to GDP, employee training/ orientation, trafficking and gowning SOPs, personal practices, facilities SOPs, master manufacturing records, packaging lot records and instructions, set up, operations and cleaning instructions of processing/ handling equipment, safety management and Sanitation SOPs. Responsibilities · Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices · Plan and determine optimal utilization of manufacturing workers and equipment to meet manufacturing goals. · Determine if new packaging machines, methods are needed. · Ensure that manufacturing stays on schedule and within budget. · Coordinate packaging with Sales, Marketing, Procurement, and other departments, as well as with vendors and shippers. · Help ensure that customer, statutory, standards, and internal requirements are met or exceeded. · Performs duties associated with processing technologies in operations involved with packaging. · Able to competently and safety operate equipment associated with blending operations. · Follows batch record instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and training manuals. · Accurately completes required paperwork and documentation, including basic math calculations such as % yield and tare weight. · Monitors and inspects product quality during processing. · Disassembles, cleans, sanitizes, and reassembles equipment. · Able to adjust functional parts and instrument controls. · Reports process or equipment problems to supervisor; performs minor or basic troubleshooting. · Cleans and maintains processing rooms and equipment. · Attends all company training sessions. · Meets performance standards for quality, productivity, reliability, initiative, safety, and work relationships. · Carries out all responsibilities in compliance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws. Fully complies with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s) and health and safety regulations. · Hire, train, and evaluate manufacturing workers; monitor workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements. · Analyze manufacturing data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement; identify and utilize methods of making manufacturing process more efficient and effective (reducing waste, using lean). · Write manufacturing reports and present to top management. · Direct corrections (corrective action) of any manufacturing problems that may arise; work with Quality Manager in development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Qualifications · College Diploma level education is a minimal requirement. 4-year degree in a scientific or technical discipline is preferred. · Mechanically inclined a plus. · 2 – 4 years of experience in food/pharma industry · Must have demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in a processing equipment related discipline and/or business. · Requires experience with GMP SOPs as they relate to dietary supplements manufacturing. · SAP and/or other data systems experience a plus. · Must be able to lead a team and train teams. · Ability to meet project timelines and assign work to direct reports for meeting department timelines. Physical Demands · While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and stand. · Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. · Lifting requirement: Up to the maximum safety-recommended 50 pounds The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment Mainly manufacturing facility where exposed to computerized equipment, moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets, moderate to loud noise level, and air-borne dust and powders. While working, will be required to wear various personal protective equipment (e.g., clothing, hair net, face mask, gloves, goggles, etc.).
