Amazon Japan's EasyShip program enables third-party sellers to leverage Amazon's logistics network for fast, reliable delivery to customers. EasyShip Japan is one of the fastest-scaling EasyShip programs globally, and First Mile - the pickup, routing, and injection of seller packages into Amazon's network - is the operational backbone of the program. We are seeking a Program Manager to lead the Ops Planning, Cost Optimization & Enablement (OPCOE) team, responsible for the end-to-end First Mile operation across EasyShip Japan. This is a people manager role leading a team of 10+ across planning, routing, execution, cost optimization, and enablement functions. You will own every aspect of how packages move from seller locations into Amazon's sortation and delivery network, including forecasting, capacity planning, routing optimization, pickup execution across multiple transport models, operational monitoring, problem resolution, and supply chain operations. Beyond daily operations, this role carries significant program management responsibility. You will own the planning cycles that define First Mile targets, capacity requirements, and cost trajectories across operating plans and quarterly goal-setting processes. You will own the First Mile narrative in business reviews, translating complex operational performance into clear, data-driven updates for senior leadership. You will drive the strategic roadmap for First Mile, identifying and prioritizing the initiatives that will improve cost, quality, and scalability over multiple planning horizons. A critical dimension of this role is enablement: expanding the categories, geographies, and seller segments that EasyShip can serve. You will identify and remove the operational barriers that prevent EasyShip from reaching new sellers and new markets, driving broader coverage of merchant-fulfilled network (MFN) selection. This role requires a leader who can operate at two altitudes simultaneously: setting the strategic direction for First Mile (new pickup models, network expansion, cost optimization, coverage expansion) while staying close enough to daily operations to catch and resolve issues before they impact sellers. You will manage a complex, multi-modal pickup network spanning third-party carriers and different injection models (sort center injection and delivery station injection), each with distinct economics, operational characteristics, and scaling trajectories. You will work closely with delivery service partner and transportation organizations to secure capacity, optimize routes, and drive pickup quality. The right candidate brings deep logistics or transportation operations experience, is comfortable managing large teams in fast-paced environments, and can balance cost optimization with delivery quality. You will partner closely with carrier management, sort center operations, last-mile delivery, business intelligence, and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement across the First Mile network. Key job responsibilities Lead, develop, and manage a team of 10+ across planning, routing, execution, monitoring, cost optimization, and enablement functions, including both full-time employees and contract staff. Own the First Mile planning cycles including operating plans, quarterly goal-setting, and peak readiness planning. Define targets for cost, quality, capacity, and volume. Author and present First Mile performance updates, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations in monthly and quarterly business reviews to senior leadership. Own the end-to-end volume forecasting and capacity planning cycle. Ensure forecast accuracy supports reliable capacity securing and cost-efficient operations. Own the routing strategy and execution across all pickup models. Optimize route density, fill rates, and capacity procurement to balance cost and delivery quality. Own pickup execution quality across all transport models. Drive delivery experience metrics, pickup compliance, and on-time performance. Own First Mile cost per package and drive continuous cost and quality (SX) improvement , route optimization, model mix, and operational efficiency. Drive the expansion of EasyShip's coverage by identifying and removing operational barriers that prevent the program from serving new product categories, geographies, and seller segments. Build and maintain operational visibility across all First Mile channels. Own root cause analysis and corrective action for quality misses. About the team No two days look the same in this role. One morning you may be deep in operational data, diagnosing a pickup quality miss and coaching your team through the root cause. By midday, you are designing a new pickup model that does not exist yet, working through the cost structure, carrier requirements, and seller experience implications with your team. In the afternoon, you are writing the First Mile section of the business review, turning weeks of operational complexity into a clear narrative for senior leadership. Between meetings, you are reviewing your team's capacity plan for an upcoming peak event, stress-testing assumptions against scenarios that have no historical precedent. This role lives at the intersection of running today's operation with discipline and inventing tomorrow's operating model from scratch. - 5+ years of cross functional project delivery experience - 2+ years of team management experience - Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements - Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership - Speak, write, and read fluently in English - Experience in logistics, transportation, or fulfillment operations with direct responsibility for cost, quality, and capacity metrics
