Operations & Marketing Manager (Part-Time, 20 hours)
Office based in Lewes, BN7 · Part-time, permanent · £15,000 to £17,000 actual (£30,000 to £34,000 full-time equivalent) 20 hours per week, 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday About us We're a small group of businesses operating across Sussex, spanning mobile car care and software development. Our flagship consumer brand is a mobile car wash membership service covering Brighton, Hove and the surrounding area. We come to the customer, on a subscription. Alongside it we build service coordination technology for field service businesses. Small team, no bureaucracy, decisions get made the same day. The role A genuine generalist role, created because the founder needs to hand over a large and varied slice of the day to day. You'll take responsibility for marketing the businesses within our group, look after our members, keep our technicians stocked and trained, help us hire, and keep projects moving. Twenty hours a week, 9am to 1pm, is a real job with real ownership that fits neatly around the school day and other commitments. It won't suit someone who needs long uninterrupted stretches of deep focus. This is a role of many small, well managed things. What you'll be doing Listed in rough order of where your time will go. Marketing (the biggest single chunk) Running paid social campaigns across the group, primarily Meta, managing budget and reporting on cost per acquisition Creating short video adverts for social: filming on location with our technicians, editing, and turning out a steady stream of content that actually converts Organic content for our brands Local marketing to grow membership through partnerships, leaflets and community groups Tracking what's working and killing what isn't Customer service First line for member enquiries across phone, WhatsApp and email Bookings, rescheduling and complaints Retention, spotting members at risk of cancelling and doing something about it Supplier and stock management Purchasing chemicals, consumables and equipment for the mobile car wash operation Keeping stock levels right so technicians never start a shift short Managing supplier relationships, comparing prices and negotiating where there's room Tracking spend and flagging where costs are creeping Technician training Hands on training for new car wash technicians covering process, standards, equipment and customer manner Quality checks in the field and coaching where standards slip Keeping training materials current Project coordination Keeping software projects on track through timelines, resourcing and chasing blockers Point of contact between clients and the development team Recruitment support Writing job ads, screening applicants, arranging interviews Sitting in on interviews and giving a genuine second opinion Onboarding paperwork and new starter admin About you Comfortable juggling several things at once and switching context without losing the thread Hands on practical marketing experience. You've run ads and can talk about results Able to shoot and edit short video for social. We're not after broadcast quality, we're after good, fast and frequent Confident with customers, including unhappy ones Organised enough to keep things moving without being chased Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. The role involves occasional time out with our technicians Not precious about mucking in. Most days that's a desk and a spreadsheet, some days it's filming in a car park in the rain Nice to have Experience in a subscription or membership business Any purchasing or supplier negotiation experience Exposure to software or agency environments Any recruitment or training delivery experience Hours and practicalities 20 hours per week, 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday Office based at our Lewes office (BN7 2YJ), with some time out in the field Easily reached from Brighton, Uckfield and Eastbourne Pro rata holiday of 28 days including bank holidays Salary reviewed at six months Pay: Up to £34,000.00 per year Benefits: Casual dress Work Location: In person
