LilyPad Septic & Portable Restroom Services is a family-owned field services company in central Kansas. Our multi-location portable restroom rental and service division has a modern truck fleet, large inventory of units and equipment, an established customer base and steady year-round work. As the company has grown, this division has outgrown the attention ownership can give it. Until now, ownership has covered this role alongside other responsibilities. This is the first time it's a dedicated position. It needs a leader to build the structure: daily standards, inventory and maintenance systems, purchasing controls, training, and a team that delivers day in and day out. This is a build-and-fix role, not a caretaker role. You'll report directly to the owner and have real authority, including hiring and building your own team. What you'll own The division's daily operation and its numbers: route completion, labor cost, cost of goods, revenue, profit A team of route technicians and a dispatcher, including hiring, training, discipline, and terminations Purchasing and cost control within your budget, without chasing approvals Equipment, inventory, maintenance, and the yard Customer retention and turning inbound leads into jobs through your office team The first 90 days Your first three months are about establishing control of the operation. By day 90, we expect to see: Consistent daily execution: the work gets done completely, on time, to a standard your team knows and follows A clear picture of what the division has, what condition it's in, and what it costs to run The right people in the right seats, with your staffing decisions made and in motion The first systems in place and sticking, with a plan for what you'll build next You'll be measured on a weekly scorecard of operational numbers, such as route completion, labor efficiency, and cost control, and on a 90-day plan we'll set together in your first two weeks. Formal reviews happen at 30, 60, and 90 days. You'll always know where you stand. How you'll work Independently with ownership backing your decisions, a budget to fix what needs fixing and bookkeeping support for your numbers You build the systems, then run them. Procedures, checklists, schedules, and training need to be created and improved over time. That's a permanent part of the job You report your own numbers. Each week you bring the scorecard, what's off track, and what you're doing about it You bring problems with a proposed fix, not just the problem The honest details This is a working manager role. You'll run routes one to two days a week at first, less as your team stabilizes, and cover when needed. If you want a desk job, this isn't it Route work is physical, outdoors in all weather, and yes, it involves pumping toilets. Days start early. Expect around 50 hours a week while you're getting things under control Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend coverage during event season Based in Salina, KS. No overnight travel You're a fit if you Have led a crew in a route-based or field operation: waste, portable sanitation, delivery, uniform or linen service, utilities, logistics, or military Have held people accountable, including writing up or letting go someone who wasn't meeting the standard Are comfortable with numbers and want to be measured by them. If you can already read a P&L, great. If not, you're willing to learn fast, because part of your pay will depend on it Get more satisfaction from fixing a mess than maintaining something tidy Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Veterans and transitioning service members are encouraged to apply. What you get Up to $5,000 bonus at 90 days and up to $4,000 per quarter, tied to clear, measurable targets Profit sharing from year two, with tiers set in advance and in writing.
