Location: Office-based, in Milton Keynes Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Reports to: Director Direct Reports: Approximately 5 team members Role Overview We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Operations Manager to support the Director in managing the end-to-end operational delivery of the business. This is a key role responsible for ensuring that products move smoothly from design and development through production, compliance, shipping and final delivery into the UK. The role will manage both internal and external stakeholders, proactively identify and resolve issues, and ensure that all projects remain on track against agreed critical paths. The Operations Manager will act as a central point of coordination between clients, licensing partners, factories, suppliers and internal departments, ensuring clear communication, accountability and timely execution across the entire product lifecycle. The successful candidate will be commercially aware, solutions-focused and confident managing multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment. 1. End-to-End Operations & Critical Path Management Own and oversee the end-to-end operational process from product design and development through to production and delivery into the UK. Develop, maintain and monitor detailed critical paths, timelines and project milestones. Work closely with the Director to ensure priorities, deadlines and key deliverables are clearly managed. Proactively identify potential delays, risks and operational issues and implement solutions before they impact delivery. Coordinate product development, sampling, approvals, production, quality control, compliance, shipping and delivery. Ensure all projects remain on schedule and stakeholders are accountable for agreed actions. Provide regular updates to the Director on project progress, risks, opportunities and areas requiring escalation. 2. External Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong working relationships with key external partners, including: Clients (BtoB) Licensing companies and brand partners Factories and manufacturers Suppliers and other third-party service providers Responsibilities include: Acting as a key operational point of contact for external stakeholders. Managing expectations, timelines and deliverables. Coordinating approvals, product information, specifications and production requirements. Ensuring factories and suppliers understand requirements and deliver against agreed standards and deadlines. Resolving operational issues quickly and professionally. Maintaining strong relationships that support both operational performance and long-term commercial opportunities. Working closely with clients to understand requirements and identify opportunities to improve service and support sales growth. 3. Internal Stakeholder & Team Management Manage and develop a team of approximately five people, providing clear direction, priorities and accountability. Allocate workloads and ensure the team is operating effectively against business priorities. Work cross-functionally with departments including Design, Product Development, Finance, Logistics and senior management. Ensure effective communication between departments so that information, decisions and actions are clearly understood. Establish clear processes and ways of working to improve operational efficiency. Support the Director in prioritising business-critical activities and ensuring the wider team remains aligned. 4. Compliance & Quality Oversee product compliance requirements throughout the development and production process. Ensure products meet relevant UK, customer, licensing and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with factories, suppliers and relevant third parties to ensure required testing, documentation, certifications and approvals are completed on time. Monitor quality standards and address any issues arising during sampling or production. Ensure compliance risks are identified and escalated appropriately. 5. Problem Solving & Risk Management Act as a proactive problem solver across the operation. Identify operational risks before they become critical issues. Troubleshoot production, supply chain, quality, compliance, logistics and stakeholder issues. Coordinate appropriate corrective actions with internal and external teams. Escalate significant risks to the Director with clear recommendations and proposed solutions. Remain calm and commercially focused when managing urgent or unexpected situations. 6. Commercial & Client-Facing Support Develop strong relationships with clients and external partners to support customer satisfaction and retention. Provide clients with confidence that projects are being professionally managed from concept through to delivery. Identify opportunities to improve processes, service levels and overall client experience. Contribute to the growth of existing client relationships by providing a high level of operational and commercial support. Key Accountabilities The Operations Manager will be accountable for: On-time delivery of products and projects. Effective management of critical paths and project milestones. Smooth coordination between clients, licensing partners, factories, suppliers and internal departments. Effective management and development of the operations team. Compliance and quality requirements being met. Early identification and resolution of operational risks. Clear and timely communication with the Director. Maintaining strong client and supplier relationships. Continuous improvement of operational processes and efficiency. Supporting the wider business in achieving its commercial and sales objectives. Candidate Profile Essential Proven experience in operations, supply chain, product development, manufacturing or a related environment. Strong experience managing multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously. Demonstrable experience working with factories/manufacturers and suppliers. Strong understanding of the product lifecycle from development through to production and delivery. Excellent critical-path and project-management skills. Experience managing and developing a team. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability. Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented. Commercially aware with a strong customer/client focus. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. Ability to communicate confidently with senior management and external partners. Desirable Experience within consumer products, licensing, retail, fashion, FMCG, toys, homewares or similar product-based industries. Experience working with international factories and supply chains, particularly in Asia. Knowledge of product compliance, testing and quality-control processes. Experience working with licensing companies and/or major retail clients. Experience supporting business growth and sales through strong client relationships. Mandarin/Chinese language skills would be a strong advantage.
