Based in Bolton, we manufacture a wide range of products for restaurants, takeaways, foodservice businesses, wholesalers and retail customers across the UK. With a strong focus on quality, food safety, innovation and customer service , we continue to expand our product range, manufacturing capabilities and customer base. As we grow, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day manufacturing operations and help us build the next stage of our business. The Role As Operations Manager, you will play a key leadership role within Blazing Limited, taking responsibility for the day-to-day performance, efficiency and continuous improvement of our manufacturing operation . You will lead and coordinate teams across production, engineering, technical, quality, warehouse and compliance , ensuring that our products are manufactured safely, efficiently and consistently to the highest standards. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment, solving problems, developing people and turning operational data into measurable improvements. Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations Take overall responsibility for the daily operation and performance of the manufacturing site. Ensure production plans and schedules are achieved safely, efficiently and on time. Monitor and improve production output, yield, waste, efficiency and product quality . Ensure effective utilisation of people, equipment, materials and production capacity. Work closely with planning, procurement, warehouse and production teams to ensure smooth material flow. Identify and resolve operational issues quickly to minimise downtime and production disruption. Maintain a strong focus on housekeeping, organisation and operational standards across the site. People Leadership Lead, manage and develop production supervisors, team leaders and operational employees. Build a positive, accountable and high-performance culture across the manufacturing team. Set clear objectives and KPIs and regularly review individual and team performance. Identify training and development requirements and support employee progression. Lead structured meetings, performance reviews and improvement discussions. Promote strong communication and teamwork across all departments. Food Safety, Quality & Compliance Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with food safety legislation, HACCP requirements, BRCGS/SALSA standards, customer requirements and company procedures , as applicable. Work closely with the Technical and Quality teams to maintain the highest standards of food safety and product quality. Ensure manufacturing processes, documentation and traceability systems are consistently followed. Support internal and external audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively. Maintain high standards of health & safety, hygiene and environmental compliance. Continuous Improvement Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production and site operations. Identify opportunities to reduce waste, downtime, labour costs and manufacturing costs . Introduce and monitor KPIs to improve operational performance. Use production data and root-cause analysis to identify recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions. Promote Lean Manufacturing principles and a culture of continuous improvement. Standardise processes and develop effective Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Engineering & Maintenance Work closely with engineering and maintenance teams to maximise equipment availability and reliability. Support preventative maintenance programmes and minimise unplanned downtime. Identify opportunities for equipment improvements and process automation. Support capital expenditure projects, equipment upgrades and new production-line installations. Growth & Business Development Support Blazing Limited's continued growth by improving manufacturing capacity and operational capability. Help develop scalable processes to support new products, customers and production volumes. Work with senior management on operational strategy, capacity planning and future investment. Contribute to new product launches and manufacturing process development. You will ideally have: Significant experience in an Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager or similar senior leadership role within food manufacturing or food processing. Strong knowledge of food production processes, food safety and technical compliance. Experience managing production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. A proven track record of improving productivity, yield, quality and operational efficiency . Strong understanding of KPIs, production data, waste reduction and cost control. Experience working with engineering and maintenance teams. Experience supporting audits, compliance and customer requirements. Strong people-management and team-development skills. Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities. A proactive, commercially aware and results-focused approach. The confidence to make decisions and take ownership in a growing business.
