We are looking for a leader who wants to be in the operation and with the team every day—observing performance, coaching employees, developing leaders, solving problems, recognizing great work, and holding people accountable when standards are not met. Our operation moves quickly. We operate seven days a week, manage a large team of Delivery Associates, and deliver thousands of packages throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area every day. The right candidate will have demonstrated the ability to take a large group of employees with varying levels of experience and performance and build them into a safer, more engaged, more accountable, and higher-performing team. What We're Looking For - Proven success directly leading and developing large groups of hourly employees - Experience improving the performance of struggling employees - The ability to identify high-potential employees and develop them into future leaders - Strong employee engagement and retention results - Experience establishing clear expectations and holding employees accountable - A consistent approach to coaching and employee development—not simply relying on formal performance reviews - Strong operational instincts and the ability to recognize problems before they become larger issues - Exceptional attention to detail and a disciplined approach to follow-through - Comfort working directly alongside employees and frontline leaders - Experience using performance data to determine who deserves recognition, who needs development, and where the operation needs to improve We are particularly interested in candidates who have successfully managed teams of 50, 100, 150+ employees or more in fast-paced operating environments. What You'll Do Develop People and Build a Stronger Team People development is one of the most important responsibilities of this position. We don't measure leadership by how many conversations you have but rather by measurable outcomes. You will be expected to understand your team—who your top performers are, who is improving, who is struggling, who has leadership potential, and who requires additional coaching or accountability. You will: - Coach employees consistently and individually - Recognize and reinforce strong performance - Develop struggling employees through clear expectations, coaching, and follow-up - Identify emerging leaders - Build development plans for high-potential employees - Work with frontline managers to improve their leadership effectiveness - Increase employee engagement and retention - Create an environment where employees clearly understand what strong performance looks like - Follow through to determine whether coaching and corrective actions actually changed performance Lead From the Operation This is a hands-on leadership role. You will spend significant time observing, talking with Delivery Associates, evaluating operational conditions, reviewing performance, working with managers, solving problems, and seeing firsthand whether our processes are working as intended. When something isn't working, we expect you to determine why. When you identify a problem, we expect you to take ownership of helping solve it. Own Daily Execution You will help lead a complex, seven-day-a-week last-mile delivery operation. Responsibilities include: - Daily staffing and route execution - Successful route launches - Driver performance - Dispatch and rescue strategy - Delivery completion - Attendance and reliability - Safety performance - Delivery quality - Employee engagement - Fleet readiness - End-of-day execution - Labor efficiency - Identifying and correcting recurring operational issues You should be equally experienced and comfortable coaching an employee in the field and reviewing performance data to identify a larger operational trend. Safety Is Non-Negotiable Our employees spend their days operating commercial vehicles in neighborhoods and communities throughout DFW. Their safety and the safety of the public come first. You will be expected to actively coach, manage, and improve behaviors involving: - Speeding - Seatbelt compliance - Distracted driving - Stop signs and traffic signals - Following distance - Safe parking - Backing and reversing - Vehicle damage - Preventable accidents Safety leadership requires more than reviewing reports. We expect our managers to identify patterns, coach effectively, follow up, and change behavior. Our operation produces significant performance data every day. You will use that information to identify: - Employees whose performance is declining - Employees demonstrating significant improvement - Coaching opportunities - Safety trends - Attendance patterns - Productivity issues - Delivery-quality problems - Labor inefficiencies - Recurring operational failures - Opportunities to recognize outstanding performance We expect our Operations Manager to combine data with direct observation, conversations with employees, and firsthand knowledge of the operation. Numbers should tell you where to look. Strong operational leadership requires going into the operation and understanding why those numbers are moving. Compensation Highly competitive pay based upon experience Qualifications Strong candidates will typically have: - 5+ years of progressive operations or people-leadership experience - Bachelor's degree required - Significant experience directly managing large hourly teams - Demonstrated success coaching and developing employees - Proven experience improving individual and team performance - Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume operating environment - Strong accountability and performance-management skills - Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through - Ability to interpret operational data, identify trends, and translate findings into action - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to make sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment - Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs Experience in logistics, transportation, distribution, fulfillment, manufacturing, large-scale retail, hospitality, or another high-volume operating environment is valuable.
