Operations Manager
(This position is for our sister company) Operations Manager He oversees the end-to-end operations for the importation, customs clearance, cold-chain logistics, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution of meat products sourced from international suppliers. He ensures seamless, compliant, and cost-effective flow of imported meat products into the local market while maintaining strict food safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the food industry. Job Description Lead and manage daily operations of importation processes, including supplier coordination, order placement, shipping documentation, freight forwarding, and international logistics for meat shipments. Oversee customs clearance, import permits, veterinary certificates, sanitary/phytosanitary (SPS) requirements, Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI)/National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) compliance (in the Philippines context), and other regulatory filings to ensure timely release of containers. Manage cold-chain integrity from port of origin to final delivery — including reefer container monitoring, temperature logging, upon-arrival inspections, and handling of temperature deviations or quality issues. Supervise warehouse and cold storage operations: inventory receiving, storage (frozen/chilled zones), stock rotation (FIFO), order picking, repacking (if applicable), and dispatch to distributors, retailers. Monitor and control inventory levels of imported and local meat products to prevent stock outs, overstocking, spoilage, or wastage; collaborate with sales/forecasting teams on demand planning. Develop and implement operational procedures, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs (e.g., demurrage, detention, trucking, storage fees), and improve service levels. Ensure full compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, Halal if applicable), biosecurityprotocols, traceability systems, and local/international regulations (e.g., FDA, export standards for source countries). Coordinate with internal teams (procurement, finance, sales, and quality assurance) and external partners (customs brokers, shipping lines, trucking companies, cold storage providers) to resolve operational bottlenecks. Prepare and analyze operational reports (shipment status, inventory turnover, cost per kg, spoilage rates, on-time delivery) and present insights to senior management. Lead, train, and motivate operations staff (warehouse supervisors, inventory analysts, logistics coordinators, drivers) to maintain high performance and safety standards. Handle crisis management for issues like shipment delays, product recalls, temperature excursions, or border rejections. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost savings, and supply chain enhancements (e.g., new suppliers, consolidated shipments, better routing). Job Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Experience: o At least 5–8 years in operations management within the food industry , with proven expertise in importation and distribution of meat/frozen/perishable products . o Direct experience handling international meat imports, customs processes, cold-chain logistics, and food regulatory compliance. o Prior roles in meat trading companies, importers/distributors, cold storage/warehousing firms, or food processing/supply chain operations preferred. Technical Knowledge: o Deep understanding of meat product specifications, freezing/chilling requirements, shelf-life management, and quality indicators o Familiarity with international trade documentation (Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, Health Certificates, Packing Lists) o Strong knowledge of food safety systems (HACCP, GMP) and import regulations in relevant markets (e.g., Philippines BAI/NMIS/FDA rules).
