Role : Operations Manager Job Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day warehouse, freight, inventory, office, and vendor coordination activities to ensure the business operates safely, efficiently, and effectively. This role provides direction to warehouse leadership, establishes operational standards and workflows, supports special projects, coordinates freight and fulfillment issues, and partners with national teams across procurement, accounting, vendor relations, and centralized operational functions. Key Responsibilities: Warehouse Operations · Coordinate freight activity, review shipping efficiency, help resolve freight-related issues, support claims processes when needed, and ensure shipments are handled in the most cost-effective and operationally effective manner. · Lead or coordinate annual physical inventory counts, cycle counts, count issue investigations, and communication with purchasing and procurement teams regarding space constraints, stock planning, and forecast input. · Lead and organize the receiving of large orders, ensuring appropriate staffing, space planning, communication, and execution. · Investigate and reconcile mis-shipments, working with warehouse, sales, purchasing, vendors, and customers as needed to resolve issues accurately and promptly. · Monitor open production orders, ensure new production orders are printed and fulfilled, and work with warehouse leadership to resolve delays or exceptions. · Review open pick tickets regularly, resolve problem tickets, and ensure open orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently. · Oversee necessary warehouse and office equipment and supplies, including items such as foam machines, compactors, office supplies, shipping materials, and vendor supply accounts. Leadership & Training · Provide direction and leadership to the warehouse manager and warehouse team, establish productivity standards and workflows, implement performance metrics, and ensure accountability for daily warehouse operations. · Support training and development of warehouse personnel to ensure consistent execution of company processes, safety expectations, and operational standards. · Coordinate with internal departments including sales, purchasing, accounting, procurement, vendor relations, and warehouse personnel to resolve issues and improve communication. · Maintain operational vendor relationships in cooperation with national procurement and vendor relations teams, communicating with vendors regarding fulfillment issues, service concerns, and process improvements. Safety & Compliance · Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety standards, while supporting risk management practices and safety training programs. · Oversee facility-related office needs including licenses, permits, codes, cleaning services, water service, kitchen supplies, groceries, and general office support functions, delegating where appropriate. · Coordinate with centralized accounting teams on credit requests, customer holds, vendor bill approvals, credit memos, and other operational accounting issues as required. Process Improvement · Develop and implement strategies for physical layout, storage, racking, equipment placement, and overall warehouse organization to improve throughput, safety, and space utilization. · Lead or support operational improvement projects such as barcode implementation, scan gun usage, new racking, warehouse process changes, and large-account operational strategies. · Support day-to-day setup procedures in Prophet 21 or related systems, including customer setup, vendor setup, and item setup, in cooperation with internal team members and national process owners. · Develop, maintain, and implement standard operating procedures that align local operations with company-wide processes and national standards. Qualifications: · 8+ years of warehouse experience required. · 3+ years of management experience required. · Experience developing workflows, productivity standards, SOPs, and operational performance metrics a plus · Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic computer skills. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. · Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one. Key Competencies · Operational Leadership: Ability to lead warehouse operations, set clear expectations, and hold teams accountable for productivity, accuracy, and safety. · Problem Solving: Strong ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and resolve freight, inventory, fulfillment, and mis-shipment problems quickly and effectively. · Process Discipline: Commitment to developing, documenting, and consistently following SOPs, workflows, productivity standards, and operational metrics. · Communication and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with warehouse staff, sales, purchasing, accounting, procurement, vendors, and national support teams. · Continuous Improvement Mindset: Proactive focus on improving warehouse layout, systems, tools, training, and overall operational efficiency. Estimated Salary: $100k- 125k/yr. with flexibility based on experience and skills.
