Odoo Implementation Specialist
Position: Odoo Functional & Implementation Specialist Department: IT / Business Systems Employment Type: Full-Time – In-House Location: Qatar Reporting To: Group Technology Manager Role Purpose We are looking for an experienced Odoo Functional & Implementation Specialist to act as the internal focal point for our Odoo ERP implementation, enhancement, and ongoing operation. The successful candidate will work closely with our Odoo implementation subcontractor, internal business departments and IT team to ensure that business requirements are correctly understood, translated into Odoo solutions, implemented, tested, documented, and successfully adopted by users. This is primarily a functional, implementation and coordination role , with sufficient technical knowledge to independently evaluate proposed Odoo solutions and coordinate effectively with developers and the implementation partner. The candidate will represent the company’s interests during the implementation and ensure that the solution delivered by the subcontractor meets agreed business, functional, technical, and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Odoo Implementation & Internal Coordination Act as the primary internal focal point for all Odoo implementation activities. Coordinate between the Odoo subcontractor, internal departments, IT team, management, and Odoo Administrator. Understand existing business processes and translate them into clear Odoo functional requirements. Conduct requirement-gathering workshops with business stakeholders. Prepare and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Functional Requirement Documents (FRD), process flows, configuration requirements, and change requests. Review solutions proposed by the Odoo subcontractor and verify that they meet the actual business requirements. Identify gaps between standard Odoo functionality and company requirements. Challenge unnecessary customization and recommend standard Odoo functionality wherever practical. Track implementation activities, dependencies, issues, risks, actions, and deliverables. Coordinate module configuration, customization, integration, testing, migration, deployment, and go-live activities. 2. Business Process & Functional Ownership Work with relevant departments to map and optimize processes covering Odoo modules such as: CRM Sales Purchase Inventory / Warehouse Accounting & Finance Invoicing Project Management Timesheets HR / Employees Leave / Attendance Expenses Approvals Helpdesk Documents Asset and other applicable business modules The candidate shall understand end-to-end workflows across departments , rather than treating individual Odoo modules independently. 3. Subcontractor / Implementation Partner Management Coordinate day-to-day activities with the appointed Odoo implementation partner. Review subcontractor deliverables against approved requirements. Ensure configurations and custom developments are properly demonstrated before acceptance. Maintain a structured tracker for requirements, customizations, bugs, enhancements and pending actions. Validate subcontractor effort estimates and change requests from a functional perspective. Ensure agreed timelines and deliverables are followed. Prevent uncontrolled customization and scope creep. Escalate delays, technical risks, requirement deviations and unresolved issues to management. Ensure adequate knowledge transfer from the implementation partner to the internal team. 4. Testing & Acceptance Develop functional test scenarios and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans. Coordinate UAT with relevant departments and key users. Validate complete business workflows rather than individual screens/functions. Record and track defects until closure. Conduct regression testing following configuration or customization changes. Verify fixes and enhancements delivered by the implementation partner. Maintain documented evidence of testing and business acceptance. Recommend whether releases are ready for production deployment. 5. Odoo Administration & Support Work closely with the internal Odoo Administrator to: Maintain users, roles and access permissions. Support configuration and master-data management. Troubleshoot functional issues. Coordinate technical issues requiring subcontractor/developer support. Manage workflows, approval matrices, email templates, reports and dashboards. Monitor recurring user issues and recommend permanent improvements. Maintain separation between production, testing/staging and development environments where applicable. 6. Data Migration & Data Quality Coordinate migration of legacy data into Odoo. Define data templates and mapping requirements with business departments. Validate customers, vendors, products, employees, accounting and other master data. Perform reconciliation and validation of migrated transactional data. Identify duplicate, incomplete or inconsistent records. Coordinate data cleansing activities with respective departments. Ensure appropriate business-owner sign-off before production migration. 7. Integration Coordination Coordinate Odoo integration requirements with other business systems where applicable. Responsibilities include: Documenting integration requirements and data flows. Defining source and destination systems. Coordinating API/interface requirements with relevant technical teams. Supporting interface testing and troubleshooting. Validating end-to-end business transactions across integrated systems. Maintaining an integration/interface register. The candidate is not necessarily expected to develop all integrations , but must have sufficient technical understanding to coordinate and validate them. 8. Documentation & Change Management Maintain proper documentation including: Business requirements Functional specifications Process flows Configuration documents Customization register Integration register User roles and access matrix UAT/test cases Defect and issue register Change request register Release notes User manuals / SOPs Training material Known-issue register Ensure that changes made by the implementation partner are properly documented and transferred to the internal team. 9. User Training & Adoption Conduct or coordinate Odoo training for end users and key users. Develop user guides and quick-reference material. Provide post-go-live functional support. Identify recurring user difficulties and recommend process/system improvements. Work with department heads to ensure users follow approved Odoo processes. Support the transition from manual/legacy processes to Odoo. Required Experience 4–7 years of experience in ERP implementation, including significant hands-on Odoo experience. Participation in at least 2–3 complete Odoo implementation lifecycles from requirement gathering through go-live and support. Strong functional knowledge of multiple Odoo modules. Experience coordinating with external Odoo implementation partners or developers. Strong understanding of ERP business processes and cross-module workflows. Experience with requirement gathering, gap analysis, UAT and user training. Experience with data migration and reconciliation. Ability to independently review and challenge solutions proposed by an implementation vendor. Technical Knowledge The candidate should have working knowledge of: Odoo architecture and module structure Odoo Community and Enterprise editions Odoo Studio User roles, groups and access controls Workflows and approval processes Odoo reporting Import/export and bulk-data management REST/API and system-integration concepts PostgreSQL fundamentals XML/JSON concepts Basic understanding of Python and Odoo development framework Git/version-control concepts Development, staging/UAT and production environments Python development capability is an advantage but is not the primary purpose of the role. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Information Systems, Finance or related discipline. Odoo certification or demonstrable Odoo implementation experience. ERP implementation or business-analysis certifications are an advantage. Experience working with organizations having multiple departments and approval workflows. Previous experience in Qatar/GCC organizations is an advantage. The subcontractor delivers against agreed scope and requirements. Unnecessary Odoo customization is minimized. Functional gaps and defects are identified before production deployment. UAT and business sign-offs are properly controlled. Internal users are adequately trained. Documentation and configuration knowledge remain within the company. The organization is not permanently dependent on the implementation subcontractor for routine Odoo operations. Odoo becomes a controlled, maintainable and scalable internal business platform. Pay: QAR5,000.00 - QAR7,000.00 per month Work Location: In person
