Location: Mississauga, Ontario — hybrid, with onsite work across the GTA Employment: Full-time Experience: 2+ years of relevant hands-on experience About the role Pentabay is expanding its business networking and cybersecurity services. We are looking for an experienced engineer to design, install, secure and support networks for small and medium-sized businesses. You will help establish our technical standards, deliver customer projects and build our ongoing support services. This role combines technical implementation, troubleshooting and customer communication. Responsibilities - Assess customer networks, connectivity, equipment and security requirements. - Design and configure firewalls, routers, managed switches and business Wi-Fi. - Implement VLANs, guest networks, network segmentation, VPNs and secure remote access. - Configure MFA, access policies and business password management. - Deploy and administer NordLayer, NordPass and threat exposure monitoring solutions; product training can be provided. - Implement endpoint protection, patching and monitoring tools. - Investigate security alerts and coordinate remediation or escalation. - Maintain network diagrams, asset inventories, configuration backups and technical documentation. - Plan changes with appropriate testing, maintenance windows and rollback procedures. - Conduct onsite installations and coordinate with cabling contractors and vendors. - Support customer discovery calls, equipment selection, estimates and proposals. - Prepare customer handovers, staff training and ongoing maintenance reports. Required qualifications - At least four years of practical network implementation and support experience. - Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, NAT, VPNs and Wi-Fi troubleshooting. - Hands-on experience with business firewalls and managed networking equipment. - Experience implementing access controls, MFA and endpoint security. - Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Entra ID or comparable business identity platforms. - Ability to troubleshoot independently and explain technical issues clearly to customers. - Experience documenting configurations and managing customer changes. - Ability to travel to customer sites across the GTA. Preferred qualifications - Experience supporting multiple customers in an MSP or IT services environment. - Experience with Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Aruba or comparable platforms. - Familiarity with NordLayer, NordPass or NordStellar/NordLayer Intelligence. - Experience with AWS/Azure networking, Linux and scripting. - Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+ or vendor firewall certifications. - Experience supporting professional services, healthcare or multi-location businesses. Success in the first 90 days - Establish a tested reference network and demonstration lab. - Create assessment, implementation, testing and handover templates. - Deliver initial customer projects with clear documentation. - Establish maintenance procedures and support escalation paths.
