About Spantech

Spantech is a Belgian success story that started over 20 years ago and has grown into one of the fastest-growing manufacturers of modular structures worldwide.

Today, the group employs some 125 people across offices and factories in seven countries, delivering more than 100 projects and installing over 75,000 m² of building every year for clients such as Netflix, Tomorrowland, Cirque du Soleil, Formula 1, BMW and Lufthansa Technik.

Spantech develops solutions for live entertainment, soundstages, industrial warehousing, aircraft hangars, sports and e-sports stadiums. Spantech also owns Viewbox, a brand which offers aesthetically advanced modular structures for the event industry.

Positioned as a premium player, Spantech integrates engineering, manufacturing and installation under one roof to deliver a genuine turnkey service, from first sketch to final installation, with fast turnaround times and high quality. The company is equally committed to sustainable, circular construction, using recycled aluminum and designing every structure to be dismantled, relocated and reused.

To support its current growth and deliver increasingly complex and technical projects, Spantech is strengthening its Engineering department and hiring a MEP Engineer.

Spantech's headquarters are based in Nivelles, Belgium. For more information, visit: www.span-tech.com and www.viewbox.eu.com.

Role overview

As MEP Engineer, you are responsible for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing design of Spantech's structures, including HVAC, power distribution (LV/HV), lighting, and plumbing from the tender phase through to execution design.

You report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the Sales team, the Structural engineering team, and the Project Delivery team. You carry out the pre-sizing and basic design in-house and steer specialised subcontractors for detailed design, ensuring that MEP solutions are technically sound, cost-effective and compatible with Spantech's modular building systems.

Key responsibilities

Pre-sales & Tender support

  • Define MEP concepts in line with client requirements and project typologies (aircraft hangars, soundstages, event venues, sports and e-sports stadiums, warehouses)
  • Pre-size HVAC, electrical and plumbing installations and estimate MEP costs to support Sales quotations
  • Contribute to tender responses: technical notes, design assumptions, scope definition and exclusions

Design & Engineering

  • Perform engineering calculations (thermal loads, power balances, cable sizing, lighting studies, hydraulic networks) and produce calculation notes and drawings
  • Ensure modelling of MEP systems in Revit and BIM coordination with structural and architectural teams, detecting and resolving clashes
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international standards (EN, IEC, ASHRAE, NFPA) and with local project requirements

Subcontractor management

  • Draft MEP specifications and requests for quotation for design offices and installation subcontractors
  • Analyse and compare offers technically, and support procurement in subcontractor selection
  • Review, comment and approve subcontractor design and execution documents, ensuring consistency with the contract and specifications

Interface & Continuous improvement

  • Act as the MEP point of contact for Sales and the Project Delivery Managers, ensuring a smooth handover from tender to execution
  • Prepare MEP bills of materials and technical data for ERP and purchasing
  • Build a library of standardised MEP solutions adapted to modular structures, with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainability and circularity

What we’re looking for

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in engineering (civil or industrial engineer – electromechanics, energy or building services)
  • 3-7 years of experience in MEP design, ideally within an engineering office, industrial construction, temporary/modular structures or a related sector
  • Proven experience in both the design of MEP installations and the coordination of specialised subcontractors

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, electrical (LV/HV) and plumbing systems
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP / BIM and in MEP calculation software (e.g. Dialux, Caneco/Ecodial, thermal load calculation tools)
  • Good knowledge of European (EN) and international (IEC, ASHRAE, NFPA) standards
  • Fluent in English; strong written and verbal communicator

Personal attributes

  • Autonomous, rigorous and result-driven, able to take ownership of the MEP scope and deliver within agreed deadlines
  • Analytical and pragmatic, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find cost-effective, out-of-the-box solutions
  • A professional team player who communicates assertively and comfortably with colleagues and external partners at all levels: colleagues, subcontractors and clients

What Spantech offers

  • A technically rich role at the heart of complex, landmark projects – aircraft hangars, soundstages, live-entertainment venues and others – with real ownership: you drive the MEP discipline from tender to execution design, with direct access to Sales, Engineering, Project Delivery and Management
  • Long-term career growth opportunities, with room to build and lead the MEP discipline in a fast-growing, ambitious company where engineering, manufacturing and installation sit under one roof, so your designs are built and seen in the field
  • The opportunity to define modular MEP standards: efficient and sustainable installations that support the company’s agile construction and circularity commitments
