Mechanical Engineering Lead (Data Centre Technical Project Management)

Responsibilities: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and implement MEP systems for newbuild data center projects, adhering to industry standards and best practices. Prepare mechanical engineering specifications, technical drawings, and construction documents, including HVAC system designs, piping layouts, and equipment selection. Evaluate and select mechanical equipment and components, ensuring compatibility with project requirements and optimal performance. Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses to assess the viability and efficiency of mechanical systems, proposing improvements and upgrades when necessary. Provide technical support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to ensure compliance with design specifications and mechanical codes. Perform HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, and airflow analysis to optimize system design and efficiency. Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into overall project plans. Participate in commissioning activities, performing system tests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring proper functionality and performance. Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies related to infrastructure fit-out mechanical systems, and apply this knowledge to improve design and implementation processes. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in designing and managing mechanical systems – HVAC, Fire Systems, for data centre newbuilds and infrastructure fit-out projects. In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, codes, standards, and practices for infrastructure fit-out projects. Proficiency in design and/or project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HVAC, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore) Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including cooling towers, chillers, air handling units, and control systems. Experience with plumbing and piping design, including water distribution, fire protection, and plumbing fixtures. Familiarity with energy-efficient design principles and sustainability practices for mechanical systems. Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver projects on schedule. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and client stakeholders.
