Mechanical Engineer – Fire Protection & Maintenance coordinator

Role Summary A Fire Fighting and Fire Alarm System Maintenance Coordinator oversees the preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, compliance, and emergency response readiness of all life safety systems within a facility or across multiple client sites. Core Responsibilities Maintenance Scheduling & Operations Develop and execute Routine Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual) according to NFPA and local authority standards. Coordinate daily activities, site visits, and emergency call-outs for maintenance technicians and subcontractors. Supervise testing and servicing of fire pumps, sprinkler systems, wet/dry risers, clean agent suppression (FM200, CO2, Novec), fire alarm control panels (FACP), smoke detectors, and voice evacuation systems. Regulatory Compliance & Inspections Ensure full compliance with NFPA standards (NFPA 10, 14, 20, 25, 72), local Civil Defense codes, and facility safety regulations. Lead joint inspections and system testing with local authorities (e.g., Civil Defense) to renew operational fitness certificates. Coordinate direct integrations and monitoring connections with municipal remote monitoring systems (e.g., Hassantuk). Reporting & Documentation Maintain comprehensive history logs, inspection checklists, testing certificates, and defect reports for all life safety assets. Draft cause-and-effect matrices, service reports, and corrective action plans following system faults or alarm activations. Track asset warranties, life cycles, and end-of-life replacement requirements. Spare Parts & Inventory Management Manage inventory of critical spare parts (detectors, call points, batteries, sprinkler heads, valves, control modules). Review technical submittals, request quotations, and coordinate procurement of material to minimize system downtime. Client & Subcontractor Coordination Serve as the main point of contact for clients, building managers, and third-party specialists regarding life safety maintenance. Review specialist subcontractor scope of works, method statements, and service level agreements (SLAs). Emergency Response & Troubleshooting Act as the primary contact for system trouble signals, false alarms, and critical failure notifications. Direct immediate troubleshooting, isolating affected zones while maintaining maximum protection across the rest of the facility.
