Marketing Director
Marketing Director World Auto Group | Matteson and Joliet Illinois We’re looking for a hands-on Marketing Director to lead marketing across our three rooftops: World Hyundai Matteson, World Kia Joliet, and our used vehicle operation. This role works closely with dealership leadership, takes responsibility for marketing priorities, and moves quickly from strategy to execution. You’ll lead the overall direction while working with dealership teams, internal resources, vendors, and our outside agency, which currently manages Google Ads and paid social placement. You’ll shape targeting, offers, budgets, creative direction, customer communication, and performance without needing to personally execute every specialist task. This is not an agency-management role or a position focused on one marketing channel. We’re looking for someone who understands the entire business, takes initiative, and gets things across the finish line. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · Align marketing activity with sales goals and identify opportunities by vehicle model, inventory, geography, audience, lead performance, and customer lifecycle across all three stores. · Develop monthly and seasonal concepts, offers, promotional ideas, and messaging based on inventory, sales objectives, market conditions, and key retail periods. · Use days-on-lot, pricing position, demand, inventory mix, geographic performance, and market-share data to identify opportunities and build targeted programs for aged inventory, priority models, and underperforming markets. · Manage the marketing calendar across paid search, social media, email, text, website, digital video, streaming TV, direct mail, community initiatives, and traditional media. · Create or direct messaging and creative for advertising, email, text, websites, landing pages, promotions, graphics, banners, flyers, and customer communications. · Work closely with internal web, content, SEO, and email resources, dealership teams, website providers, agencies, and other partners to make sure traffic is supported by strong landing pages, clear messaging, effective calls to action, and a consistent customer experience. · Drive re-engagement of unsold and inactive leads by working with sales and BDC leadership to identify opportunities and develop nurture, follow-up, and remarketing programs that bring customers back into the funnel. · Develop sold-customer lifecycle programs that support retention, service communication, trade and equity opportunities, referrals, loyalty, repeat purchases, and vehicle replacement. · Coordinate customer communication across AutoAlert, Fullpath, Qore, email and text platforms, CRM tools, and other marketing technology so messaging is targeted, connected, and not unnecessarily duplicated. · Continually test and improve audiences, offers, messaging, creative, landing pages, calls to action, and channel mix using available platform tools, customer response, and performance data. · Take projects from idea through completion. Identify what needs to happen, organize the people and resources involved, resolve roadblocks, follow through on details, and make sure work is completed accurately and on time. · Evaluate vendors, platforms, contracts, and new technology based on performance, utilization, cost, integration, and practical business value. Recommend where we should expand, renegotiate, consolidate, replace, or eliminate. · Ensure advertising complies with applicable FTC requirements, OEM guidelines, and state advertising regulations. Offers, disclaimers, pricing, and promotional claims need to be accurate, clear, and defensible. HOW WE MEASURE THE WORK What we spent. Where we spent it. What it produced. Reporting is only useful if it leads to better decisions. This role is responsible for connecting marketing activity and spend to meaningful business outcomes—including traffic, leads, calls, appointments, sales, gross, retention, and ROI—and using those results to determine what we continue, change, test, or stop. WHAT YOU BRING Three or more years of marketing experience is preferred, ideally in automotive, multi-location retail, or another fast-paced environment. A bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field is preferred, although equivalent professional experience will be considered. You bring a strong understanding of branding, lead generation, customer retention, digital marketing, and ROI, along with excellent writing and communication skills. You can develop effective advertising, email, text, landing-page, and promotional content while communicating clearly with leadership, employees, agencies, and vendors. You’re comfortable evaluating performance in Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, GA4, Google Business Profile, and related digital platforms. Experience with AutoAlert, Fullpath, Qore, CRM systems, dealership websites, or automotive data is a plus. We’re looking for someone creative, analytical, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities—someone who recognizes opportunities, builds the plan, moves the work forward, and measures the results.
