Our client is looking for a Technical Engineer to support technical procurement, machinery evaluation, technology scouting, and engineering projects across palm oil mills and estates. This role is ideal for a Mechanical Engineering graduate with 1–2 years of experience who is comfortable working with suppliers, evaluating industrial equipment, and travelling internationally for technical assessments and technology sourcing. Experience in the palm oil industry, machinery evaluation, industrial automation, or related engineering fields is preferred. Fluent in Mandarin, English, and Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia . Strong technical understanding of agricultural practices and palm oil milling processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Experience evaluating and selecting industrial machinery or agricultural equipment is an advantage. Familiarity with palm oil mill machinery such as sterilizers, threshers, presses, boilers , and related equipment. Understanding of palm oil estate operations, including harvesting, planting, and crop management practices. Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Proficient in research tools, internet resources, and standard office software. Adaptable, proactive, and willing to learn new technologies. Comfortable with frequent international travel . Male candidates preferred due to the travel and estate/mill site requirements. Candidates in their late 20s to 30s are preferred. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Procurement Support the development of precise technical specifications for new machinery, spare parts, and systems used in palm oil mills and estates. Ensure technical requirements align with operational needs, industry standards, and future business objectives. Evaluate technical proposals and specifications from multiple suppliers. Compare suppliers based on performance, efficiency, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and after-sales support. Technology & Machinery Research Research and evaluate emerging technologies, machinery, and best practices within the global palm oil industry. Identify new agricultural and palm oil mill technologies across China, Malaysia, and Indonesia . Explore developments in areas such as: Mill automation AI and IoT Energy efficiency Waste treatment Oil extraction technologies Smart agriculture Research new harvesting methods and equipment to improve efficiency and reduce labour dependency. Evaluate drone and satellite technologies for plantation mapping, crop health monitoring, yield prediction, and field optimisation. Research advanced irrigation and water management technologies. Estate Mechanisation & Digital Agriculture Support estate mechanisation and digital agriculture initiatives. Provide technical research and evaluation for new equipment and technologies. Support estate management in implementing and maintaining new mechanisation and irrigation systems. Project Management Support significant engineering and mechanisation projects throughout their lifecycle. Assist with mill expansions, upgrades, new equipment installations, and estate-level technology deployments. Support projects from conceptualisation and feasibility studies through commissioning and handover . Assist in developing project plans, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation strategies. Support pilot projects and technology trials where required. Supplier & Stakeholder Management Regularly engage with suppliers and technology providers to identify suitable equipment and solutions. Maintain relationships with suppliers, particularly within the China and Indonesia markets . Support technical discussions, supplier evaluation, and negotiations. Work closely with internal purchasing, mill, estate, and management teams. Site & International Travel Travel to China for supplier visits, technology scouting, and agriculture-related exhibitions. Travel to Indonesia and Sabah for palm oil mill and estate visits and technical assessments. Gain an understanding of on-site operational requirements and provide appropriate technical and procurement support. Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month Work Location: In person
