Position Summary The Manager of Development and Marketing plays an integral role in advancing the organization's fundraising, marketing, communications, community engagement, and philanthropic initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, this position is responsible for supporting and, as assigned, independently managing donor engagement activities, fundraising campaigns, special events, digital communications, social media, and organizational marketing. The successful candidate will possess a balance of creativity, strategic thinking, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professional judgment, and the ability to build positive relationships with donors, families, community partners, volunteers, staff, and other stakeholders. This is a highly collaborative and public-facing position. The Manager is expected to represent the organization professionally and to exercise sound judgment when communicating on behalf of the organization. Key Responsibilities Development & Fundraising Assist the Senior Director of Development with the planning and implementation of annual fundraising campaigns, special appeals, donor communications, stewardship activities, and other development initiatives. Support the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individual, corporate, foundation, and community donors. Assist with donor research and prospect identification. Prepare donor correspondence, acknowledgments, stewardship materials, and other development communications. Support sponsorship outreach, tracking, fulfillment, and recognition. Assist with grant research, applications, reporting, and related development activities as assigned. Maintain accurate and timely donor and prospect records. Utilize the organization's donor database/CRM to support prospect management, donor communications, reporting, and data integrity. Track development activities and assist with measuring fundraising results and return on investment. Provide regular updates to the Senior Director of Development regarding project status, deadlines, opportunities, and concerns. Events & Community Engagement Support the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events, donor cultivation events, golf outings, community engagement initiatives, and other organizational events. Manage assigned event responsibilities from planning through completion. Coordinate event logistics, including vendors, sponsorships, volunteers, guest communications, promotional materials, registration, and follow-up. Serve as an organizational representative at assigned events and community activities. Develop and maintain event timelines, task lists, and deadlines. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure appropriate staffing, materials, communications, and event support. Assist with post-event follow-up, donor stewardship, evaluation, and reporting. Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, vendors, volunteers, and event participants. Event Availability This position requires reliable availability to participate in occasional evening and weekend events, fundraising activities, community engagements, and other organizational functions . Advance notice will be provided whenever possible. The Manager is expected to fulfill scheduled event commitments and communicate any potential scheduling conflicts to the Senior Director of Development as early as possible. Because many development activities are time-sensitive and event-driven, dependable attendance and follow-through are essential to the position. Marketing & Communications Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive marketing, social media, digital communications, and outreach strategies that promote organizational programs, services, events, and impact. Develop, write, schedule, publish, and monitor content across appropriate social media platforms. Design and produce marketing materials, including newsletters, brochures, flyers, presentations, digital graphics, event materials, and other communications. Coordinate newsletter content and assist with email marketing campaigns. Assist with website content updates and maintenance. Develop compelling content that communicates organizational impact to donors, families, community partners, volunteers, and the general public. Assist with press releases, media communications, organizational announcements, and other public-facing communications. Maintain and manage an organizational content and social media calendar. Ensure marketing and communications materials are consistent with organizational branding, messaging, tone, and standards. Monitor marketing performance metrics and provide recommendations for improved engagement, reach, and effectiveness. Accuracy, Attention to Detail & Organizational Judgment Because this position manages public-facing communications and development materials, accuracy and attention to detail are essential functions of the position. The Manager is expected to: Carefully proofread and review materials before publication or distribution. Verify names, dates, times, links, images, contact information, organizational references, and other critical details. Confirm that the correct organizational account, materials, branding, and messaging are being used before publishing or distributing content. Ensure communications are appropriate for their intended audience and aligned with organizational goals. Exercise sound judgment when creating, approving, sharing, or responding to public-facing content. Recognize when an issue requires supervisory review or approval before proceeding. Take ownership of identifying and correcting errors promptly. Protect confidential, sensitive, donor, family, employee, and organizational information. Family & Community Engagement Support communication and engagement initiatives designed to strengthen relationships with individuals served and their families. Assist in gathering and sharing stories that demonstrate the organization's impact while respecting privacy, dignity, and appropriate consent. Develop opportunities for families, individuals served, volunteers, and community partners to provide feedback and share their experiences. Assist with family-focused communications, outreach, surveys, engagement initiatives, and resource-sharing activities. Collaborate with program staff to ensure that marketing and development communications accurately reflect the experiences and impact of the organization's programs. Help strengthen the organization's visibility and relationships within the broader community. Administrative & Collaborative Responsibilities Provide administrative support for development operations, including correspondence, acknowledgments, recordkeeping, data entry, scheduling, and reporting. Maintain organized electronic and physical files related to development and marketing activities. Maintain accurate calendars, project timelines, contact lists, and campaign materials. Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure cohesive messaging and effective promotion of organizational initiatives. Communicate proactively with the Director of Development and other departments regarding deadlines, priorities, challenges, and project status. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines. Participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and other organizational activities as assigned. Support other development, marketing, communications, and organizational initiatives as needed. Qualifications Required Minimum 2-3 years experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, nonprofit development, event coordination, or a related field OR Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, nonprofit management, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated professional judgment and discretion. Ability to reliably fulfill scheduled work and event commitments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365 and common social media platforms. Preferred Experience with donor databases/CRM systems. Experience with email marketing platforms. Experience with Canva or similar design tools. Experience with website content management systems. Experience with event management and fundraising software. Grant writing or grant administration experience. Experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or their families. Experience building community or corporate partnerships. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to work in an office environment and at off-site events and community activities. Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends based on organizational events and development activities. Ability to travel locally for meetings, events, community activities, and organizational needs. Ability to use standard office equipment and technology. Ability to manage periods of increased workload surrounding fundraising campaigns and special events.
