The successful applicant will play a vital role in ensuring our hospital and residential facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors. Job Title: Maintenance Technician Location: Bloomfield Hospital, Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, D16 C6T4 Reports to: Head of Facilities Management Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time, 39 hours per week Note: A full, clean European driving licence is essential. About Bloomfield Hospital: Bloomfield Hospital is a 131-bed specialist mental health facility, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. We are committed to delivering compassionate, person-centred care that honours the dignity of all individuals who come through our doors. Our hospital provides a wide range of neuropsychiatric services for adults with serious and enduring mental health conditions, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, early-onset dementias, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. We are proud to be the only facility in Ireland offering specialised care for individuals living with Huntington's disease. Care at Bloomfield is delivered by a multidisciplinary team and is grounded in evidence-based, recovery-oriented principles. Key Responsibilities: Perform general maintenance duties on a basic level such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating. Collaborate with the Maintenance Team to deliver day-to-day maintenance and installations across the hospital and residential areas. Conduct routine preventative maintenance and maintain accurate service records. Maintain high standards of decoration and general building appearance. Prioritise tasks from the maintenance log in consultation with departmental managers. Carry out regular safety inspections, including checks on emergency lighting, fire alarms, and firefighting equipment. Identify and troubleshoot maintenance issues, coordinating prompt repair to minimise service disruption. Liaise with on-site tradespeople and external contractors as needed. Promote and uphold a safe and well-maintained environment across all facilities. Support continuous improvement initiatives led by the Head of Facilities Management. Person Specification Essential Experience: Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably within a healthcare or similar setting Ability to work independently and manage varied maintenance challenges Knowledge of health and safety standards and best practices Skills: A multi-skilled technician who can turn his or her hand to most trade sets. For example, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and/or decorating experience. To have a technical mindset when it comes to problem solving, with a can-do attitude. Needs to be able to work well as part of a team and individually.
