We’re Hiring a Lead Welding SME!

Are you a senior welding engineer ready to lead welding engineering on a major onshore LNG expansion project? We’re looking for a Lead Welding SME to join the Materials Engineering – Shared Resources team and oversee welding engineering from detailed design and procurement through to installation, testing and commissioning.

Reporting to: Materials Engineering Head

Your Responsibilities:

Welding Engineering Leadership:

• Provide welding engineering expertise, design input, quality assurance and leadership in line with project deliverables and the execution schedule.
• Make sure WPS/PQRs, project specifications and data sheets from FEED and Detailed Design meet project requirements and cover the full production life cycle.
• Direct the welding engineering scope of work in the EPC contract, and recommend procedures and alternatives that save cost and schedule.
• Keep welding procedures and specifications up to date.

EPC Contractor Stewardship:

• Oversee EPC Contractor welding activities, including:
• Validating personnel qualifications
• Checking the use of appropriate design tools
• Ensuring adherence to specifications, procedures and design verification processes
• Assess EPC Contractor capability in contract documents, progress measurement and reporting, and recommend support where there are gaps.
• Manage technical attachments and scope descriptions for fabrication and construction contracts, and get them into purchase orders on time.

Planning, Reporting and Stakeholder Management:

• Own the welding schedule and milestones, and provide narrative, charts, change management recommendations and recovery plans for monthly reports.
• Work closely with the Engineering Team and Engineering Manager on project needs and objectives.
• Make sure work complies with Client operations, policies, standards and the Project Management System.
• Capture and share lessons learned for review teams and future projects.
• Build strong relationships with EPC contractors, vendors, sub-contractors and internal teams (Operations, SHEQ, Engineering).

What We’re Looking For:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

At least 8 years as a Senior Welding Engineer, with broad knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes and safety criteria.

⭐ Key experience: EPC detailed design execution and support for multiple EPC contractors from contract award through to start-up.

Experience in onshore facilities design, construction and operations.

Technical knowledge: WPS/PQR, welder and welding operator qualification, ASME, API and AWS codes, fabrication and construction welding QA, and welding progress measurement and reporting.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Soft skills: Strong planning and coordination, clear communication and influencing at all levels, sound judgment, and excellent written and spoken English.
