You’ll own the technical direction of the service and API layer of a next-generation data platform, building new services in Rust (with some C#) while parts of the current platform still run on Ruby. What you’ll do - Set technical direction and own architecture and API design for the new service layer. - Build and maintain backend services and APIs, primarily in Rust. - Migrate existing C# and Ruby clients to the new API surface with minimal disruption. - Lead code quality through reviews and work closely with client engineering leads. Must have - 8+ years of backend experience building production services and APIs, ideally with tech lead experience. - Commercial Rust experience with async services (Tokio, Axum or Actix). - Working knowledge of Ruby. - Strong API design skills (REST/gRPC, versioning, backward compatibility). - Solid SQL, relational databases, testing, CI/CD and observability. - Experience driving AI-assisted/agentic coding practices across a team. - Fluent English. Nice to have C#/.NET, API migrations or strangler-pattern rewrites, data sync or ETL, and regulated industries. Strong Lead/Principal Engineers or Architects without direct Rust experience are also encouraged to apply.
