You are accountable for advancing a culture of safety and excellence while providing quality and value to our customers and clients. WHAT YOU WILL DO: - Ultimately, improve safe and reliable electric service delivery to the public. - Act as the subject matter expert regarding utility vegetation management (UVM), for clients, landowners, and other stakeholders. - Inspect electric utility easements and prescribe vegetation management actions. - Coordinate with landowners and stakeholders to develop vegetation management plans for their properties. - Ensure tree crews are following proper safety and arboricultural practices and procedures. - Address customer concerns related to vegetation in and adjacent to utility easements. - Coordinate with utility engineers to assist with infrastructure upgrades and new construction. - Negotiate with customers for tree removal as prescribed. - Perform QA/QC inspections on completed vegetation management work - Provide support and oversight to planners on team. - Complete weekly in-progress reports for assigned team - Identify vegetative threats to safe & reliable electric service and develop action plans to mitigate. - Drive a company vehicle safely to work locations for the organization. WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE: - Ability to read maps. - 4+ years UVM or Forestry experience. Line Clearance experience needed. - Willingness to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain within a remote area. - Superb written and verbal communication skills. - Strong customer service and communication skills. - Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, smartphones). - Ability to temporarily fill in for the Utility vegetation management personnel. - Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills. - Capable of training and leading all aspects of a vegetation management operation. - A leader in safety and training within vegetation management operations. - Provides and demonstrates leadership traits through all aspects of individual’s activities. - Provides and demonstrates successful management abilities. - Provides oversight of one or more utility VM programs. - First line of customer and client communication for solution development and program enhancement. WHAT WOULD BE AMAZING TO HAVE: - Bachelor’s or associate degree in forestry, Environmental Science, or related discipline. - Certification as an ISA Arborist, Registered Forester, ISA Utility Specialist, & TRAQ Qualification or other related certificates/licenses a plus. - Prior GIS software/technology experience preferred. - A strong desire to grow and develop your career and knowledge in the UVM industry with AMS. - Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) a plus Working Environment Work with a team and alone; primarily in an outdoor field environment and/or low light conditions; foot patrol of energy corridors in the vicinity of power lines and/or pipelines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demands and travel from site to site, including: walking/hiking on various surfaces including flat, dry, wet, slippery, rocky, sandy, uneven, rough, unstable, steep terrain, hills and slopes, dense vegetation; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, and all types of weather extremes including snow, ice, fog, humidity, and low and high temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions, domestic and wild animals, insects, and poisonous plants. Other working conditions may include: in a vehicle or limited time in an indoor office. Physical The employee must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment; to walk up to 10 miles per day, stand, sit, and operate a motor vehicle for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, run, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp and make repetitive hand, arm and shoulder movement in the performance of daily duties (e.g., forcefully beat down brush); carry, push and/or pull light to heavy amounts of weight, frequently lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. (sandbags); to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; ability to verbally communicate to exchange information with public; ability to see and hear in normal range with or without correction; operate assigned field equipment, including handheld computer, range finder, fyrake, water backpack, shovel, and traffic cone.
