Lead Engineering Technician – U.S. Army DEVCOM Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC)

Position Title: Lead Engineering Technician

Location: Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois (on-site)

Work Type: Full-time, on-site

Position Overview

INTECON is building a team to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, with Technical Data Package (TDP) support. A TDP is the complete engineering definition of an armament component - the drawings, 3D models, parts lists, specifications, and tolerances that the Army and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) rely on to procure and sustain that part. The Lead Engineering Technician runs the day-to-day work of the team: managing the flow of TDP and engineering-change requests, performing the final technical review before each package is certified, and serving as the main point of contact with the Government. This person also acts as the project manager for the effort, owning quality control, contract deliverables, and schedule performance against DLA delivery timelines. It is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows engineering drawings and configuration management well and enjoys keeping a skilled technical team on track.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and prioritize the team's queue of TDP certification and engineering-change requests, tracking each against its DLA priority-code due date to meet the required on-time delivery rate.
  • Perform the final technical review of each TDP before it is submitted for Government certification, confirming completeness, accuracy, and consistency across drawings, models, parts lists, and specifications.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with DEVCOM-AC engineers and the Government's representative, coordinating reviews, resolving questions, and routing packages through the Government's TDP certification and engineering-change workflows.
  • Own the Quality Control Plan - define the checklists, review steps, and metrics (on-time delivery, first-pass acceptance, and rework) and act on the results to keep deliverables error-free.
  • Prepare and submit contract deliverables, including the monthly status report, training and property records, and the workflow improvement report.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate the TDP and engineering-change workflows, and recommend improvements to the Government.
  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to the engineering technicians and CAD specialists on the team.
  • Oversee accountability of Government-furnished property and compliance with required security and training.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and the favorable background investigation required for access to Rock Island Arsenal.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering drawings, technical data, or configuration management, including at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Hands-on experience with PTC Creo and PTC Windchill.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14 engineering drawing standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and verify mechanical engineering drawings, 3D models, parts lists, and revisions.

Required Education

Associate's degree in engineering technology, drafting, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting U.S. Army, DLA, or other DoD technical-data or configuration-management programs.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package requirements.
  • Experience with SAP-PLM, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
  • ASME Y14.5 GD&T certification.
  • Configuration management credential (CMPIC or CMII).

Required Clearance Level

U.S. citizenship is required. The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and the favorable background investigation needed for on-site access to Rock Island Arsenal.
