Learn more about us: https://www.uniwearables.com/ The Role We are looking for a highly capable and creative Lead Electrical & Embedded Systems Engineer to take technical ownership of our electronics and embedded-system development. You must have a strong understanding of embedded systems and be able to solve complex technical problems independently. We are looking for someone who does not simply execute predefined tasks, but actively develops solutions, challenges existing approaches, and turns ideas into reliable working systems. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will work directly on hardware, firmware, prototypes, testing, and system integration while leading technical projects and supporting junior engineers and students. Key Responsibilities Take technical leadership and ownership of embedded-system and electronics projects. Develop system architectures and translate product requirements into technical solutions. Design, prototype, test, and improve analog and digital electronic circuits. Develop and maintain embedded firmware, primarily in C. Analyse sensor data and develop engineering tools in Python. Integrate sensors, electronics, firmware, wireless communication, and cloud-connected systems. Creatively solve complex hardware, firmware, and system-level problems. Perform measurements, debugging, root-cause analysis, and technical troubleshooting. Make well-founded technical decisions and clearly communicate them to the team. Define requirements, interfaces, test procedures, and technical development priorities. Support PCB development, hardware bring-up, component selection, production, and design transfer. Lead technical work packages and coordinate junior engineers, students, and external partners. Collaborate with mechanical, software, clinical, and quality-management teams. Take responsibility for projects from the initial concept to a verified and manufacturable solution. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Embedded Systems, Medical Engineering, or a comparable technical field. At least one year of relevant professional experience in embedded systems or electronics development. Very strong embedded-systems knowledge and practical development skills. Strong programming skills in embedded C. Good programming and data-analysis skills in Python. Practical experience with microcontrollers, peripherals, communication interfaces, and real-time systems. Strong knowledge of electronic circuit design, prototyping, measurement equipment, and debugging. A creative engineering mindset and the ability to develop pragmatic solutions under technical constraints. Excellent analytical thinking, structured problem-solving, and root-cause analysis skills. Strong leadership skills and the confidence to take responsibility for technical decisions. Ability to guide other engineers while remaining deeply involved in hands-on development. Strong communication skills and a collaborative team spirit. Ability to remain structured, reliable, and solution-oriented under pressure. Willingness to learn quickly and take ownership in a fast-moving startup environment. Good English skills; German is beneficial. Advantageous Experience Medical-device or healthcare-technology development. Analog sensor electronics and digital signal processing. PCB design and hardware bring-up. ECG, PPG, SpO₂, temperature, or motion sensors. MATLAB/Simulink. Wireless communication and IoT systems. Low-power embedded-system design. Design verification, technical documentation, or regulated product development. Mandatory Requirements Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field. Strong embedded C and embedded-systems skills. Demonstrated technical ownership, creativity, problem-solving ability, and leadership. Currently located in Berlin ( MUST) Willingness to work primarily on-site in a hands-on engineering environment.
