Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technical Manager to lead the technical operations of our soil and construction materials testing laboratory. You will ensure that all testing is carried out accurately, on time, and in line with ISO/IEC 17025, ENAS requirements and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily laboratory operations, including soil testing Drilling, rock, aggregate, concrete and asphalt testing
• Act as Technical Manager under the laboratory's ENAS accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025 quality system
• prepare and approve test results and technical reports before release to clients
• Plan and prioritize workload to meet project deadlines
• Manage, train and assess laboratory technicians and ensure staff competency
• Oversee calibration, maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment
• Maintain measurement uncertainty, proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparison programs
• Implement and improve test methods, SOPs and quality procedures
• Handle non-conformities, complaints and corrective actions
• Support internal and external audits (ENAS, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
• Enforce health and safety practices in the laboratory
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers and field teams on sampling and testing requirements
• Support tenders and proposals with technical input on laboratory services

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of ASTM, BS, AASHTO and local authority (Abu Dhabi / Al Ain Municipality) testing standards
• Solid understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 and experience with accredited laboratories (ENAS or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with tests such as Atterberg limits, particle size distribution, Proctor, CBR, UCS, triaxial, consolidation, aggregate tests, concrete cube/core testing and Marshall tests
• Strong report review, data analysis and technical writing skills
• Good leadership, communication and decision-making skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and laboratory management software
• UAE experience preferred; valid UAE driving license is an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) or chartered membership
• Prior experience as an approved signatory or technical manager in an accredited lab
• Experience working with major developers and consultants
