Laboratory Manager Location: Naoero, Nauru Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Healthcare / Hospital About the Role Naoero Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and highly qualified Laboratory Manager to lead and oversee all laboratory operations within the hospital. The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory services while maintaining compliance with applicable standards, quality assurance programs, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will provide leadership to laboratory personnel and ensure efficient management of laboratory resources, equipment, and processes. This is an international relocation opportunity for a laboratory professional with strong leadership experience in a hospital, medical centre, diagnostic laboratory, or healthcare setting. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee the daily operations of the hospital laboratory. Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely processing and reporting of laboratory tests. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate laboratory staff and support their professional development. Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols. Ensure compliance with quality management systems, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitor quality control and quality assurance programs across all laboratory sections. Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and validation of laboratory equipment and instruments. Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, reagents, and procurement requirements. Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, storage, and disposal procedures. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care. Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and budget recommendations. Lead initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency, safety, and service quality. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, infection prevention, and biohazard management standards. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field. Master's Degree in Laboratory Management, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum of 5–7 years of laboratory experience , including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role . Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, diagnostic laboratory, or medical centre is required. Strong knowledge of laboratory quality assurance, quality control, and accreditation standards. Experience managing multidisciplinary laboratory services, including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and blood banking. Demonstrated leadership, staff management, and operational planning skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Certification or registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist in the candidate's home country. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records. Familiarity with international laboratory accreditation standards and quality management systems.
