Java Back-end Engineer
Performs effectively under pressure, managing competing priorities without sacrificing quality Communicates complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Comfortable pivoting quickly across tasks, projects, or technical contexts as priorities shift Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions, building partnerships beyond the immediate team Design, build, and maintain Java-based backend services and REST APIs for the Chargebacks team. Enhance alerting capabilities and backend support for configurable notifications. Partner on technology enablers including database upgrades, integration, and scaling strategies, as well as containerized service deployment. Participate in release cycles, feature iteration, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical leadership through code reviews and mentoring, and actively contribute technical perspective in requirements and planning discussions. Operate effectively across concurrent initiatives and shifting priorities without loss of quality or velocity. 7+ years of professional software development experience with a strong Java backend focus, including Spring Boot and SQL Experience building scalable, high-availability SaaS platforms Strong REST API design and service-oriented or microservices architecture experience Expertise with relational databases; PostgreSQL and/or Oracle experience preferred Familiarity with containerized deployment environments (Docker/Kubernetes) Experience with complex workflows and decisioning systems Proficient in leveraging Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to deliver high-quality software at velocity Comfortable operating in high-velocity, fast-changing environments Agile/Scrum experience and strong collaboration skills - Redis, Hibernate & NoSQL - Liquibase or similar schema-migration tooling
