Overview As an IT Support Engineer, your primary responsibility is to provide responsive and effective technical support to colleagues across the business, acting as an experienced point of escalation within the IT team. You will resolve first and second line issues independently, administer core end-user services, maintain and manage hardware and software assets, and contribute to the overall reliability and security of our IT infrastructure. Through your proactive approach, you will help resolve issues swiftly, enhance the user experience, and ensure colleagues can work efficiently with minimal disruption. Your work supports the company's operational goals while handling company and customer data with the care expected of an FCA-regulated business. Responsibilities As an IT Support Engineer, you'll play a key role in keeping our colleagues connected, productive, and supported. Working as part of a collaborative IT team, you'll combine your technical expertise with a customer-focused approach to deliver excellent service across the business. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact through both day-to-day support and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide first and second-line IT support by managing and responding to tickets in the internal helpdesk system, resolving issues within agreed service levels and acting as a point of escalation for less experienced colleagues. Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, including PCs, laptops, monitors, printers, phones, and other peripherals. Support new starters and leavers, including preparing and issuing equipment, creating and disabling user accounts, and recovering hardware, working with hiring managers and the Wellbeing Team. Administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID day to day, including user accounts, licences, group membership, shared mailboxes, and device enrolment. Maintain accurate records of IT assets, including hardware and software inventories, and provide the Finance Team with the information needed for purchases and renewals. Assess and recommend hardware upgrades or replacements to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Help keep colleague devices secure and up to date by applying updates and patches in line with IT policy. Handle company and customer data appropriately at all times, following DSG's information security and data protection policies and our obligations as an FCA-regulated business. Support colleagues across all departments by offering guidance on how to use IT systems and tools effectively, including the company's AI tools such as Claude. Contribute to IT documentation and knowledge base articles so that common issues can be resolved quickly and consistently. Liaise with external vendors and support providers to progress hardware repairs, warranty claims, and third-party issues through to resolution. Contribute to IT projects and improvement work, such as hardware refreshes, system rollouts, and office moves, taking ownership of defined workstreams. Provide occasional practical support with office moves and workstation changes, including assembling, relocating, or dismantling desks and equipment.
